Principal Consultant - Statisical Analysis

Position Overview:

AEG seeks an industry leader in statistical analysis of utility energy efficiency, demand response, electrification, and other distributed energy resource programs to join our Consulting division. The ideal candidate will be a recognized expert in the evaluation of these programs, demonstrated through previous consulting experience, a thorough knowledge of industry best practices, a strong track record of project execution and relationship building, and a passion for mentoring other team members to support their professional development. 

Responsibilities:

Through leadership and expertise, set the standards regarding technical decisions related to complex research, planning, and data analysis.

Use industry expertise and thought leadership in the evaluation of customer-focused utility programs to drive innovation and excellence within AEG.

Develop and execute analysis plans for complex tasks and/or projects.

Independently manage large and highly complex projects or tasks which may include: statistical analyses, analysis of fuel and utility bills, estimation of energy efficiency savings and costs, measure engineering analysis, program benefit-cost analysis, program development and planning, evaluation analysis, market research, survey design, and secondary research.

Independently develop project deliverables including written memos, reports, and presentations, and manage the QA/QC process on those deliverables to the project director’s satisfaction.

Communicate analytical methods and results to clients in a clear and effective manner.

Represent AEG at stakeholder presentations, industry conferences, and industry organizations.

Perform QA/QC on complex analysis performed by others to ensure deliverables are high quality, sensible, and error-free.

Build and maintain client relationships to maximize productivity and cultivate future opportunities.

Mentor and guide junior staff on analysis and project work.

Contribute to business development and/or proposals.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

BA/BS in economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field

Minimum of 15 years of industry experience, particularly experience in energy modeling through program planning, evaluation, or implementation.

Expertise in industry best standard protocols and best practices for statistical analysis.

Proven ability to consistently lead projects teams to successful outcomes.

Leading skills with one or more programming languages, e.g., R, Stata, or Python.

Demonstrated excellence with QA/QC approaches and procedures.

Additional Qualifications:

Advanced degree in statistics or a related field.

Experience providing consulting services for energy utilities.

Active membership in one or more industry groups or associations.

Recognized industry expert in statistical analysis of utility energy efficiency and/or demand response programs.

Demonstrated excellence with the development of analysis plans for discrete tasks and/or projects.

Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.

Superior interpersonal skills including courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude.

Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to follow through on multiple tasks and priorities.
