Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workday Principal Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with business areas to define and deliver HR technology strategy and lead HR transformational projects, including process redesign/standardization and merger and integration support. You will lead at least two or more of Workday’s modules, with Total Rewards Compensation as the primary focus and one of the other Workday modules such as Core HCM or Security.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and People Management:Lead, mentor, and manage a team of HRIS specialists focused on Workday modules (e.g., Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Recruiting, Performance, Security).Set team goals, provide regular feedback, and support professional development to build a high-performing, engaged team.Monitor workload distribution and team performance to ensure timely and quality delivery of projects.Foster a collaborative and supportive environment, promoting cross-functional teamwork and knowledge-sharing across HRIS and HR teams.Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and career development discussions with direct reports.System Configuration and Enhancement:Design and build Workday solutions in the Compensation space, including plans, incentive plans, compensation packages, components, eligibility, grids, and statements.Enable and enhance the Compensation modules with new setups and functionality to meet business needs.Configure and manage advanced compensation requirements, including long-term incentive plans, stock options, and executive compensation.Project Leadership:Lead HR technology strategy projects, including process redesign/standardization and merger and integration support.Perform impact analysis with clear outcomes and obtain alignment from all parties involved.Develop project plans, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.Gather requirements and lead configuration design sessions.Compensation Planning:Prepare and support end-to-end Annual Compensation Planning and mid-year compensation cycles for the company.Manage compensation data loads, security, and integrations with other HR systems.Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and compliance with compensation policies.Collaboration and Support:Serve as the primary daily contact to business owners on the delivery of services.Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Provide advanced support for Workday Compensation issues, troubleshooting system and data problems.Develop and deliver training sessions for HR and other stakeholders on Workday Compensation functionalities and best practices.Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including configuration guides, process workflows, and user manuals.Testing and Reporting:Create and manage the testing strategy with UAT testers.Develop and generate regular and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and analytics to support compensation decision-making.Ensure accurate and timely reporting to meet business needs and compliance requirements.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.Demonstrated ability supporting enterprise HR applications with 8-13 years of work experience.6+ years of expert-level proficiency in Workday HCM and Core/Advanced Compensation.Expert knowledge and direct experience with Workday annual compensation planning cycles, compensation configuration, and integration.Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and processes.Proficiency in Workday reporting and analytics tools (Workday Report Writer a plus).Understanding of Workday data, overall flow of Compensation processes, data flow between modules, and integrations to other systems.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to train and support end-users.Nice to Have:
