C.H. Robinson is seeking a Principal Data Analyst to join our Intermodal (IMDL) Advanced Analytics team. The Principal Data Analyst role will leverage business and technical knowledge to develop new and innovative analytical solutions in the form of applications, reporting, dashboards, and implementing other processes/tools. This role will be accountable for product prototyping, using the Agile process to create applications which serve a research and development purpose. Additionally, this role will use established best practices to verify insights for leadership and will conduct exploratory work pertaining to upcoming and/or ongoing product development. The Principal Data Analyst will act as a mentor to team members and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for IMDL stakeholders and other individuals within the organization, providing valuable insights and analysis. The Principal Data Analyst will work collaboratively with Data Science and other individuals within the enterprise to scale Intermodal Advanced Analytics by utilizing and integrating into organizational tools and technology.
This role can be based in Minnesota, Chicago or Kansas City.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
Data profiling, exploratory work, prototyping, visual development, initial data structuringBuilds initial application prototypes rapidly and accuratelyAdapts applications based on feedbackDomain buildout, validation, and reworkUpdates and maintains standard library of visualization packages and reporting for future prototypingUsing agile processes, takes in reviewed work through work management tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, ZenHub or Azure DevOps (ADO) boardsExtracts and interprets data to answer ambiguous questions while working directly with personnel across the networkDetermines reporting and additional analysis to support initiatives and measurement Utilize data integration techniques to organize and analyze dataProactively analyzes topics, identifies and creates recommendations supported by facts to change behaviors, including specific operational improvements to the team and the business in generalClearly translates and communicates complex concepts into understandable, professional presentationsPerforms quality assurance testing of reports and dashboards, including UAT as appropriateConsults, supports and informs leadership and/or customers using data driven insightsPresents and delivers analytical value through business intelligence and collaborationNetworks by building relationships and consulting to bring solutions to lifeCollaborates with internal analytical teams to develop predictive solutions in tandemUnderstands existing reports, and develops additional custom reports using business knowledgeInfluences on other reports being built, may be a SME to help guide new report creation Develop and execute SQL database queries and conduct analysesDevelop and maintain technical documentationOther duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country specific requirementsRequired Qualifications:
6+years of previous analytics experience developing business solutions using comprehensive, robust data assetsExpert knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, and mastery proficiency with the broader Microsoft Power Platform Suite of programs (Power Apps, Power Automate)Mastery understanding of data fundamentals, SQL Querying, and passion for data integrity, testing, and validationExpert knowledge and practical application of a programming language such as Python and/or R5+ years’ experience with SQLBachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience and a high school diploma/GEDPreferred Qualifications:
Analytics or supply chain degreeBasic to Intermediate Statistical knowledge (regression, clustering, decision trees, etc.)Intermediate to advanced understanding of Big Data solutions and concepts (Azure, Postgres, Hadoop, NoSQL, MPP, ETL etc.)Basic understanding of HTML, Javascript/D3T Advanced Computer Science, Analytics or supply chain degreeC.H. Compensation Range
$75,900.00 - $168,500.00The base pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base pay for the position across all U.S. locations.
