The annual base salary for this position ranges from $138,400.00 in our lowest geographic market to $327,200.00 in our highest geographic market. Actual salary will vary based on a candidate's location, qualifications, skills and experience.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Principal Data Architect to join our Architecture team in the Consumer Product & Innovation organization (CP&I) responsible for Nike’s Product Innovation, Merchandising, Design & Development.  You will work with diverse cross-function team members to accelerate data modernization driving business outcomes and cultivating a data-driven culture within the organization.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You will lead the development and implementation of data strategy and architecture, as well as optimizing the data-product portfolio to drive efficient enterprise integration and enable AI/ML, analytics, and reporting use cases.

You will be responsible for:

Designing a scalable and robust data architecture and strategy that supports the development of the data components that are foundational to sound platform and applications development

Working closely with business partners, product owners, technology partners to translate business requirements into data models and architecture for data and AI products

Designing and developing data models, from conceptual to physical, to represent data entities and their relationships, adhering to best practices to support enterprise operational data at scale

Overseeing data contract definition and the implementation of data models to optimize data design for performance and total-cost of ownership

Partnering with Enterprise Taxonomists to develop metadata taxonomies to ensure data interoperability

Establishing and communicating data architecture and modeling standards, principles and best practices to promote data literacy, enabling data governance

Managing the integration landscape to drive simplification and standardization across enterprise data consumers

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will spend much of your time with Data Product Managers, Solution Architects, and Software Engineers in CP&I delivery teams.  You will also partner closely with other Data Architects, Taxonomists, Solution Architects, Product Managers, Engineering leaders from enterprise teams reliant on Product data.

WHAT YOU BRING

A minimum Bachelor Degree or a combination of relevant education, training and experience is required.

In-depth knowledge in one or more business domains (Merchandising, Product Design, Product Development, Planning, Consumer/Marketplace)

Deep expertise in requirements analysis, data modeling and implementation techniques and technologies

Deep understanding and experience with data ingress, egress, data services/APIs, reporting, data warehousing, AI/ML integration and analytics platforms

Strong knowledge of cloud technologies like Snowflake or Databricks, AWS, including data services such as S3 and RDS

Expert at data analysis, data querying tools/SQL with the ability to write complex queries

Strong understanding of business functional design, business process design, and modeling

Experience with modeling tools like Hackolade, Erwin, PowerDesigner

Strong analytical and consulting skills

Excellent collaboration and time management skills 

Excellent influencing, verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with multiple peers and cross-functional partners

Experience working in a technical leadership role with agile teams in a product model
