Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections (DPS&C)/ Allen Correctional Center (ALC), located in Kinder, LA, is currently seeking a full-time Teacher for the Education Department. The Principal will administer ALC’s rehabilitative programs such as the HiSET program, Literacy Program, Adult Basic Education Program, and Vocational-Technical Programs. The Principal will oversee, direct, develop and implement these programs. Examples of work include, but are not limited to responsibility for entire education program including literacy, HiSet, and all vocational-technical programs and correspondence courses, supervising teaching staff and teacher's aides, administrative decisions including curriculum and classroom allotment, ACA documentation for education programming, training seminars for tutors and staff, and hiring and discipline of staff. This position will be expected to work 40 hours per week, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 12 months a year, excluding state holidays for a total of 2080 work hours. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS include a current and valid Louisiana Teacher's Certificate with Provisional Principal Certification. Experience in administration with additional experience such as strategic planning, educational programming, curriculum design, development, and implementation, budget and expense control is preferred.
