A Day in Your Life at MKS: As a Power Electronics Engineer you will be responsible for the development and release engineering of power electronics ranging from 3-30KW. You will design and support new product introduction engineering of power electronics used for plasma and reactive gas generation. You will operate independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly technical environment with multi-task competing priorities. You will work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Y ou will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager. You Make an Impact By: + Leading new power electronics related product development projects that involve a multi-discipline engineering team. + Performing engineering analysis using simulation tools such as PSIM, Simulink/MATLAB, SPICE, Mathcad or other related tools. + Develop, document, and execute DVT plans. Report on results and recommend appropriate engineering tradeoffs to optimize functional performance, reliability, and product cost. + Creating and archiving design reports and other product documentation. + Collaborating with embedded control engineers to integrate firmware with power electronics hardware components. + Participating in cross-functional project teams to execute upon new product developments involving power electronics for plasma generation applications. Skills You Bring: + Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 6+ years’ experience in power electronics design. Advanced degree is preferred. + Must have a record of project leadership from the conceptual stage to the product launch under schedule pressure. + Must have demonstrated experience in the design of resonant inverters operating at 400KHz or above, boost or buck converters, or single/three phase power factor correction topologies in the 3-30kW power range. + Must have solid analytical skills with the ability to simplify and present complicated systems. Familiar with: + series and parallel resonant topologies. + magnetics component design. + power converters/inverters that operate with soft switching. + PCB layout optimization in terms of stray leakage inductance and spacing requirements. + power conversion EMI/EMC filtering design. + design, development and optimization of firmware for power electronics digital control systems using DSP and MCU platforms. + knowledge of reliability validation as it relates to power electronics. + regulatory compliance testing such as compliance related to EMC and safety. + semiconductor capital equipment preferred. + Ability to use lab tools such as oscilloscopes, power meters, etc. #LI-AK1 Globally, our policy is to recruit individuals from wide and diverse backgrounds.
