About the Role
Assigned to support the Product Specification and Program Execution teams in the development of mechanical and electro-mechanical components for Headphone and Wearable products. Provides input to Product Specification team to match potential supplier's development capability with product requirements and design. Gauges how much of the actual development each supplier is capable of doing for us on a given product. Reviews product designs with supplier to insure understanding of all product requirements prior to quotation. Responsible for assisting our suppliers and future suppliers with mechanical design, and to act as liaison between suppliers and the Harman Consumer Mechanical Engineering group. Oversees or executes component or product verification testing according to test plans.
What You Will Do
Reviews customer request and cooperate with cross function team to develop new headphone or wearable products; provide necessary inputs at each internal key milestoneResponsible for mechanical feasibility study, architecture, SPEC, and basic cost estimation before RFQ.Interface between Harman design team (ID) and ODMs engineering teamDrive ODM mechanical design team and engineering team to ensure on time and on quality mechanical delivery from build phase to production phaseAccurately and regularly reports all mechanical issues from customer and supplier.Provides direct as needed on-site interface with suppliers and sub-supplier program management, engineering, and manufacturing groups.Works very closely with customer and on site to discuss mechanical design with customer as neededReview and approve NPI project mechanical design 3D/2D drawingResponsible for overseeing suppliers detail design and methods to ensure compliance with our product goals and quality standardsOn site trouble shooting and technical support at suppliers or sub-supplier as neededWhat You Need
BSME with 7+ years of consumer electronics product engineering and development experienceGood English and Chinese communication, email, con-calls and presentationExperience with plastic and metal part design, tooling, molding; post process/surface treatment like painting, printing, anodizing, USW, laser etching, plating, PVD; water-proof products design experience is a plusProficient in the use of software tools such as, ACAD, Pro-ePrefer a solid understanding of DOE,GD&T;SPCTeam management experience and project management experience are both plusGood verbal and written communications skills, including technical documentation using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point and OutlookOpen Minded and willing to work outside the boxHonest and understands the value in reporting both good and bad newsSchedule drivenInnovative and willing to take calculated risksAble to work with aggressive goals on multiple programsSelf-Motivated to be the best he/she can beWilling to work under strong stressWhat Makes You Eligible
