The primary purpose of this role is to provide technical leadership & metallurgical expertise to the Integer Salem site in support of Integer’s goals. You will be responsible for the Metallurgy laboratory in Salem, providing materials expertise to all relevant processes onsite & supporting the wider Integer organization as required.
You adhere to Integer’s Values and all safety, environmental, security and quality requirements including, but not limited to: Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety, Environmental and Security Management Systems, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, company policies and operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements.You are recognized as a materials subject matter expert within Integer and challenged to solve unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business.You will provide supervision for the materials laboratory in Salem along with supervision of associated lab technicians. You will be responsible for all aspects of lab maintenance including daily planning & reporting of activities, equipment preventative maintenance and calibration As well, you will serve as a coach and mentor for other engineers, modeling the behaviors and disciplines of an engineering or technical professional.You will provide technical resource support to the Salem supply chain organization including participating in the assessment and qualification of new vendors, resolving specification issues, maintenance/review of all material specifications & ASTM standardsYou will act as a SME for material processes including casting, extruding, wire/tube drawing, heat treatment & furnace developmentYou will provide materials knowledge to the wider Integer technical organization for related processes such as laser cutting & welding or other processes that may impact the structural performance of the materialYour skills and experiences are leveraged to discover and promote new business and market opportunities as well as production performance improvements.You will collaborate with the wider engineering teams to support strategic planning for expansion of capabilities and / or acquisitions as appropriateYou will have opportunity to provide materials consultancy services to the wider Integer organization in the future including specification development, material characterization & failure analysis.You embed Quality within the Engineering discipline – “I own Quality.” You are a standard bearer for Quality in everything we do at Integer, by assuring adherence to our Quality Management System (QMS) and Product Development Process (PDP).You demonstrate proficiency in both written and oral communication.You perform other duties, as needed and as directedHow you will be measured:

You are technically renowned within your department as a subject matter expert, a recognition you have earned through 10+ years of progressive engineering and/or technically focused roles and experiences.You earned, as a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or related technical field. Preferably, you also have a Master’s degree or a Doctorate. You possess metallurgy experience (materials & process), with nitinol experience an advantageYou have a strong foundation and demonstrated capability, in a variety of problem-solving and project management platforms.You work independently as well as collaboratively with cross functional teams.You have the well-developed skills for planning, executing, and delivering projects on time and on budget.You have demonstrated experience in people management and developmentBecause your role involves customer and supplier interactions, travel, both domestic and international, may be required at times.
