**Job Description** **_This position will follow our hybrid work model, we expect the selected candidate to be in the office 10-12 days per month at the St. Petersburg, FL Corporate Office location or Denver, CO_** **Job summary:** The **Principal Engineer - AWS Cloud** Engineering role works as part of the Enterprise Data Team and will be responsible for developing solutions in support of a critical data platform. You will play a key role in the journey of Raymond James to develop a leading Wealth Management Platform on AWS. This position will have extensive contact with multiple application development teams and other shared services teams. This role will follow a hybrid workstyle in one of the following locations: Saint Petersburg, FL or Denver, CO. **Responsibilities:** + Responsible for developing highly optimized low latency Data Integration solutions. + Responsible for building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IAC) for Cloud Services and Confluent Kafka + Responsible for writing code which conforms to standards and best practices and is highly efficient. + Responsible for building, maintaining and contributing to shared frameworks, modules and patterns + Responsible for understanding deeply the end-to-end data requirements, application and service requirements and designing end to end data solutions. + Drive the data lake architecture and engineering delivery on AWS + Work with Data Engineers, Architecture, Infrastructure, Networking, CloudOPS and DevOPS teams + Must have relevant experience in various database platforms, ETL solutions/products, ETL architecture. + Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. **Skills:** + Strong experience in Terraform or similar IAC language + Experience with AWS Cloud Services is preferred, knowledge of other Cloud Providers is a plus + Experience and strong understanding of AWS Cloud Services components like Redshift, S3, Kafka, Glue, AirFlow, SageMaker, EMR, Athena, Lake Formation, VPC, KMS, IAM and many other Cloud Service modules. + Experience with Confluent Kafka is a huge plus + Strong experience in scripting, ansible, linux and automation concepts + Strong experience in Python is preferred, Java and other languages are a plus + Knowledge and experience with Analytics, Data Warehouse and Big Data concepts across both batch and streaming patterns + Solid understanding of networking, infrastructure, cost management, SRE concepts + Ability to create patterns for adoption from scratch and being able to document and articulate coding and architecture standards for others to follow. + Performance tuning and optimization of code and infrastructure + Creating a culture of continuous improvement, performs code reviews and makes recommendations for improvement or streamlining patterns + Relevant experience in various database platforms, ETL solutions/products, Infrastructure, ETL architecture and On-Prem or Cloud Services. + Financial Services Industry knowledge is a plus. **Ability to:** + Identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities; compare data from different sources to draw conclusions. + Clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message. + Use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; recommend or take action that is consistent with available facts, constraints and probable consequences. + Demonstrate a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; remains current with developments and trends in areas of expertise. + Develop and use collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals. + Make internal and external clients and their needs a primary focus of actions; develop and sustain productive client relationships. **Education** Bachelor’s: Accounting, Bachelor’s: Business Administration, Bachelor’s: Computer and Information Science (Required) **Work Experience** General Experience - 6 to 10 years **Certifications** **Travel** Less than 25% **Workstyle** Hybrid At Raymond James our associates use five guiding behaviors (Develop, Collaborate, Decide, Deliver, Improve) to deliver on the firm's core values of client-first, integrity, independence and a conservative, long-term view.
