Northrop Grumman is in need of a an Energetics Manufacturing Engineer – level 2 or 3 to work at its Elkton, Maryland facility.
Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. The position can be hired to either a level 2 or level 3 engineering position. The level to be hired will depend on education, experience, and demonstrated skills.
Job Duties:
Provide manufacturing support to operations to meet quality, delivery, and cost requirements.Create, maintain and improve Process Control Documentation.Establish manufacturing lines for new products and product upgradesEstablish Lean process flowCapacity planning…. perform capacity studies/analysisDigital modeling/simulation when appropriateDefine facility and equipment needsWork with facilities engineering to provide cost benefit analysis to support capital projectsEstablish equipment specificationsWork with vendors for equipment run-off and installationAssist in establishing safety requirements for new facilities and equipmentEstablish Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) requirementsProvide start-up support and initial training to operationsEstablish required proceduresProvide training to maintenance personnel as requiredConduct continuous improvement activitiesLean manufacturing implementation (PES)Assist operations with 5-S programsConduct Process FMEA’sGenerate process maps, flow charts, value stream mapsEstablish standard workConduct time studies/auditsMonitor production touch labor costs and suggest/implement improvements to drive costs downEstablish Key Characteristics for manufacturing/processing and ensure systems are in place to monitor/control themOperational support:
Analyze processes and equipment for process capabilities and causes of downtime. Analyze yield and scrap rate data provided by Mission Assurance to improve processes.Provide technical support for improvementsDetermine root cause and corrective actions for deficienciesConduct process capabilities studies as requiredContinually monitor processesGenerate and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) program for production programsMonitor actual production vs. planWork with Safety to establish and adhere to safety requirements and support Hazard AnalysisWork with product/tooling engineering to establish tooling requirementsAssist in design of initial tooling and test equipment and with continuous tooling improvement. Additive manufacturing design, development, and implementation where practicalAssist operations and maintenance in troubleshooting and equipment repairsAssist in defining product count points for financial trackingThis position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location. Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.
Basic Qualifications for level 2:
Must have at a Bachelors degree and 2 or more years of experience or a Masters degree with 0 or more years of experience.Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance.Basic Qualifications for level 3:
Must have a Bachelors degree and 5 or more years of experience or a Masters degree with 3 years of experience.Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance.Salary Range: $85,400.00 - $128,000.00Salary Range 2: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
