Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Systems Engineer – Nuclear Survivability/Air Blast Effects to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
In this role, the Principal Systems Engineer will have a unique opportunity to support design and mitigation strategies to develop and field a survivable weapon system with operational requirements involving various threat environments.
Key Responsibilities:
The candidate will implement a weapon system air blast threat environment compliance and certification program, contribute to product development and program completion, manage, perform and mature weapon system analysis, evaluate verification criteria of components, equipment, subsystems and air vehicle.

Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) discipline AND 5 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 1 year of related professional/military experience in EngineeringMust have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD interim Top Secret clearance prior to the commencement of employmentMust have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the companyMust have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the companyAbility to travel 20% of the time is requiredPreferred Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Systems Engineering - Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) focused work regimen Proven experience with team engagement experience in a leadership/Team Lead roleExperience developing key performance requirements, decomposing them into a set of key functional elements, and developing a system design/architecture which satisfies weapon system operational constraintsExperience with Systems Engineering processes and software for development of non-functional certification artifacts – CAMEO, DOORs, etc.Demonstrated experience effectively communicating technical approaches/concepts to customers, engineers and management from multiple disciplinesExperience performing technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, risk assessments, and compliance analysis for total weapon system design effortsCurrent, active Top Secret clearanceSalary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
