Principal Financial Analyst, Global Transformation Team (Remote Option)

Preference is for the candidate to work hybrid in Minneapolis, Shanghai, Luxembourg, Heerlen, or Bogota, the role is however also open to remote candidates.

As a Principal Financial Analyst within the Global Transformation Team (GTT), you act as global subject matter expert in the Intercompany Value stream, specifically inventory and profit, while also providing support to other value streams that are part of the Financial Systems & Services (FSS) organization within Corporate Controllership. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Global Process Leaders (GPLs) to implement global value-stream strategies, , execute strategically important processes and controls around month-end close, and drive Lean/Agile process improvement initiatives.

You are successful in your role when the value streams’ strategic roadmaps, owned by the GPLs, are executed timely and with a high level of stakeholder alignment.  You are also successful when you master SME knowledge of the Intercompany inventory space and dive into details to interpret results.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

Operational Value Stream & Fiscal Close Support: 

•    Execute month end and year end tasks to support the close processes.  Ensure high attention to detail to deliver accurate financial results.  
•    Identify potential risk areas, initiate timely remediation plans and ensure swift resolution and mitigation in collaboration with various stakeholders and GPLs.
•    Collaborate with Shared Service Centers (SSCs) and GPLs to provide value stream insights and report-outs on month, quarter and year-end results.

Drive Strategic Value Stream Initiatives:

•    Embrace Lean/Agile methodologies (e.g. DMAIC) to drive effective and timely execution of global improvement projects prioritized by GPLs; including strategic, just-do-its and urgent initiatives aligned with the value streams’ strategic roadmaps.

•    Provide support for divestitures and integrations in close partnership with GPLs, the Integrations Management Office, Financial Systems team, and Shared Service Centers.

o    Support SAP conversions and new product introduction where applicable through the validation of (system) process flows.

Function as Global (Value Stream) Subject Matter Expert:

•    Serve as the escalation point of contact on day-to-day questions or emerging topics for value-stream stakeholders including business partners such as e.g. Local Finance, Supply Chain, Customer Care, Tax and Treasury, SSCs and GPLs. Troubleshoot to resolve diverse queries timely and effectively.

•    Proactively manage value stream standard documentation (including SOPs, WIs, etc.) where necessary in collaboration with GPLs and SSCs.

•    Establish and nurture key global business partnerships in alignment with GPLs to enhance value stream knowledge and identify future improvement opportunities and recommendations.

Drive Reporting, Analytics & Technology:

•    Proactively identify, assess, recommend, and implement data and insights solutions that meet the needs of value stream stakeholders in alignment with the GPLs and Financial Systems team.

o    Implementing KPIs as defined by the GPLs and monitor and recommend process improvements when metrics are not successfully achieved.

•    Explore opportunities for global reporting automation and elimination of manual data retrievals. Drive automation efforts of operational value stream reporting in alignment with the global reporting strategy.

•    Collaborate on implementation of state-of-the-art technology solutions supporting the GPLs value stream future design in alignment with the Financial Systems team and Medtronic IT and Sourcing, where applicable.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

•    Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting (Or Advanced Degree with 5+ years)

Nice to Have •    Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
•    Experience in Intercompany or Record to Report with a focus on inventory
•    Strong data analytics and process understanding capabilities to learn the subject matter
•    Strong collaboration and interpersonal communication skills across a global matrix 
•    Demonstrated ability to influence change efforts and lead initiatives at multiple levels within a complex, matrix organization and have a track record of delivering results 
•    Project management expertise or certification such as Lean Sigma Black Belt or Scrum Master
•    Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
•    Experience with reporting and analytics tools and processes
•    Innovative mindset with a willingness to challenge the status quo 
•    Passionate about continuous improvement and transformation 
•    Strong stakeholder and customer focus
•    Exposure to financial systems and technology

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
