About the Role

 

 

The Principal Indigenous Employment will support BHP’s Indigenous Employment work through partnering with our Assets and Functions on their Indigenous employment strategies and providing SME support to enhance the employee experience for our Indigenous workforce at BHP.
 


In this role, you will: 

 

Provide leadership and support in driving the delivery of the Minerals Australia Indigenous Employment Strategic Plan in partnership with Asset and Functional Leadership and HR teams to improve employment outcomes for our Indigenous workforce. Provide subject matter expertise and Indigenous perspectives on processes, programs and policies relevant to all elements of an Indigenous employee’s experience.  Consulting with Asset leadership team and key stakeholders to help operationalise RAP initiatives for the Asset.  Provide strategic SME advice – related to employment outcomes - in Native Title negotiations Prepare and present reports on Indigenous employment strategic priorities and on achievement of these priorities and any issues. Develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships including clients, suppliers and other key stakeholders Accurately capture, manage, and report information. Facilitate stakeholder workshops and consultations to co-design indigenous employment strategies. Support the building of meaningful employment pathways for Indigenous peoples.  Including the creation of toolkits and resources to align employment to RAP commitments or other Indigenous strategic initiatives.

 

About You

 

Qualifications & Skills to be successful in this role: 

 

Proven ability to plan and deliver initiatives and culturally sensitive communications, preferably for Indigenous groups.  Skilled in relationship-building, committed to creating inclusive, culturally respectful environments. Comprehensive understanding of RAP frameworks, including experience in employment and social impact initiatives Understanding of cultural safety protocols and practices and the ability to make recommendations to improve these in an organisational setting.  Proven ability to coach and manage a broad range of stakeholders to problem solve and manage expectations.   Relevant vocational, TAFE or University qualification(s) (e.g. HR, ER) is recommended but not mandatory.  Demonstrated experience in developing, driving progress, and reporting on Reconciliation Action Plans 

 

Location


This role can be based in Adelaide or Brisbane on a Monday – Friday basis.  Travel to our various sites on occasion may be required.
