At General Dynamics Ordnance & Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), we are on the lookout for a seasoned Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who possesses a robust knowledge of cloud services, particularly within Microsoft Azure and OCI. With a keen focus on infrastructure automation, this role is vital for ensuring the seamless integration and reliability of our on-premises and cloud-based systems. If you have a track record of designing and managing robust, secure, scalable cloud infrastructure, and you're skilled at automating operations, we'd like to meet you.

 

This role has the opportunity to be on-site, hybrid or remote.

 

Major Position Responsibilities Responsible for the design and development of information technology architecture for the organization.  Serves as a technical expert on solutions design, development, and implementation requirements to address business needs Analyzes the functionality and constraints of recommended solution/changes across multiple systems/platforms/applications.  Ensures compatibility, interoperability, stability, and usability of solution architecture Uses knowledge and experience across varying infrastructure requirements to develop, design, and re-engineer architecture when necessary. 

 

 

Additional Responsibilities

Implement, oversee, and scale hybrid cloud infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration between on-premises data centers and cloud platforms.Spearhead initiatives to automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform and Bicep/ARM templates.Optimize system reliability and performance through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning of our hybrid IT environment.Develop and maintain robust automation workflows to facilitate operational efficiency and reduce manual interventions.Uphold and enhance security and compliance standards across the hybrid cloud infrastructure aligning with company and industry regulations.Collaborate with software development teams to create and promote operability, building self-healing systems that are resilient to failures.Design and implement monitoring solutions to detect issues proactively, and drive root-cause analysis and resolution for system issues.Craft and maintain comprehensive documentation for automation tools and infrastructure configurations.Define and track SLOs, working towards continuous improvement of system reliability and performance metrics.Provide on-call technical support and incident management as part of a rotating schedule

Basic Qualifications Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 8-10 years' experience or Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or ExperienceCritical professional related technical skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's DegreeDiscipline/Major: Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.Knowledge, skills & abilities: Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) platforms.Proficient in infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform and Bicep/ARM templates to automate cloud service provisioning and deployment.Understanding of networking principles, including hybrid connectivity between cloud and on-premises environments.In-depth knowledge of Windows and Linux systems administration, virtualization technologies, and container orchestration tools.Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and associated best practices.Strong experience with version control systems, preferably Git.Relevant industry certifications, such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional, are highly advantageous.Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a systematic approach to problem-solving.Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Strong communication and documentation skills.

 

Physical Demands:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

 

Travel:

No or very little travel likely.

Pay Range (USD) $93,100.00 - $172,900.00 Pay Transparency Statement The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training.
