Principal IT Project Manager

The Principal IT Project Manager is responsible for managing a high volume of Magellan’s most highly complex projects within Information Technology or Cybersecurity which could include hardware/software implementation/upgrades, and/or process maturity. This role is responsible for the development, curation, and maintenance of all project-related artifacts (project roadmap, budget, work breakdown structures (WBS), etc.), project and assignment schedules, and for providing on-demand status updates and problem resolution for highly complex projects. As a Principal IT Project Manager, will lead or support the ongoing development and cohesion of the project management discipline and community within Magellan IT and cybersecurity teams.
+ Performs advanced planning, facilitate prioritization activities, and oversee delivery of features and/or enhancements that meets client expectations (scope, schedule, costs, risks). Manages schedules and assignments of project members within a matrix structure ensuring that all project activities are coordinated and supportive of the project scope, time and budget.
+ Develops advanced level communication management plans, performs stakeholder analyses, identifies risks, and takes necessary actions, including escalation.
+ Assesses maturity of project teams, internal, and external partners and supports gap remediation.
+ Communicates with respective senior and executive level leaders, functional area leaders and/or business leaders regarding status of specific projects.
+ Develops and maintains project charters, detailing project plans, weekly status updates, and provide problem resolution.
+ Brings high visibility and transparency into the team’s progress.
+ Empowers the team to be self-organizing.
+ Coaches team members and models and teaches advanced level project management methodologies throughout the project management community at Magellan.
+ Participates in or leads activities designed to continually grow, develop, advance, and teach the Project Management community within Magellan.
+ Demonstrates servant leader qualities for leading the team.
+ Measures and reports progress regularly.
+ Demonstrates knowledge in project management principles and team leadership.
+ Assists in developing and maintaining project charter, detailing project plans, weekly status updates and providing problem resolution.
Other Job Requirements
Responsibilities
10+ years' experience leading projects or project teams in a similar environment at the advanced level.
10+ years' experience in IT or cybersecurity.
Demonstrated experience supporting or leading the advancement of project management methodologies beyond project teams.
Demonstrates qualities of a servant leader and coach.

Advanced level problem solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
