An example day in the life of a Principal Member of Technical Staff in the Cloud Performance (PSR) Team could be about designing a high-end scale benchmark on a Kubernetes-based large Oracle Cloud Service, analyzing performance characteristics (regressions/improvements, wide variations, or intermittent spikes). Digging deeper at each layer – C/C++/Java application, Database, Operating Systems , Networking, Storage layer, and root causing the behavior. To be successful in this role the candidate must not be afraid to dig deep into the tech stack outside of their core domain expertise and apply their acquired domain knowledge over the years to the problem at hand and come to a conclusion.
