Purpose
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production quality, efficiency, and cost performance. This role provides technical leadership to resolve production challenges, supports New Product Introduction (NPI) and product transfers, and collaborates with Product Quality Engineers to address customer concerns. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer also leads the execution of engineering changes, ensures the accuracy of Bill of Materials (BOM), and maintains compliance with ISO standards.
Responsibilities
Work closely with Product Quality Engineers to investigate and address technical concerns reported from the field, implementing effective solutions to enhance product performance and customer satisfaction.Analyze product performance using statistical process control (SPC) and other analytical tools to identify opportunities for improvement. Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance quality, productivity, and reduce costs, ensuring that performance expectations are met and exceeded.Provide prompt and effective technical support to resolve daily production challenges. Address issues related to assembly, testing, and PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) troubleshooting to maintain excellent production performance.Lead and execute initiatives focused on improving production processes, including Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, product quality, and cost management.Participate in the design transfer of new products (NPI) and product transfers from R&D to manufacturing, ensuring seamless integration into production and adherence to quality standards.Execute and control engineering changes, ensuring the accuracy of BOMs, routings, work instructions, and other technical documentation. Ensure compliance with ISO9001, ISO13485, and other regulatory requirements.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or a related field in Engineering or Science disciplinesMinimum 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with a strong preference for experience in the scientific instrumentation or electronics manufacturing environmentProven experience in hands-on assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of analytical instruments and electronic components (both analog and digital)Strong expertise in PCBA troubleshooting and testing, with a focus on improving product reliability and performance, including experience in DFx (Design for Excellence) and New Product Introduction (NPI).Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), Lean manufacturing principles, and Six Sigma methodologiesSuccessfully managed projects with durations of 6+ months and budgets ranging from $200,000 to $2 million.Led one or multiple product lines, ensuring successful development, launch, and ongoing managementLed a team of 3–4 engineers, with the capability and potential to manage larger teams.Strong knowledge of BOM management, routing accuracy, and engineering change processesExperience working within ISO13485 and ISO9001 frameworks.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, with strong analytical skills for troubleshooting complex systems.
