Northrop Grumman IT Solutions team is seeking a Principal IT Systems Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the creation of a new manufacturing facility in Waynesboro, VA. 

This position ultimately requires reporting on-site to Waynesboro, VA but will initially offer remote work while the new facility is being built.  In time, the role will also possibly require on-site work in Charlottesville, VA. This is a full-time 5-day work schedule position, but may as needed require off-hours support.

This role will be a combined one, both evaluating factory equipment for digital connectivity and compatibility with IT and cyber standards, as well as supporting new and existing manufacturing PCs and systems from an IT perspective.  As an IT Systems analyst, the candidate will be responsible for evaluating systems to be connected to our manufacturing network, determining equipment interface capabilities, identifying and diagramming equipment communication requirements, communicating future connected factory vision from an ITOT interface perspective, and working with vendors as required to specify and verify access to data. As that evaluated equipment is brought in to the environment, and also for legacy manufacturing equipment, the Analyst will also provide PC and network support to ensure continued connectivity and operability of the factory.


The successful candidate will possess superior interpersonal, communications and leadership skills and must be able to clearly articulate and document analysis results to colleagues, management, and customers. This candidate must be able to operate independently and prioritize, track, and complete their own work as well as present status and issues to management.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Providing technical support for Windows systems and associated networks.Installing, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing personal computers, PC applications, network cables and connectors.Instructing and assisting users in the use of workstations and networks.Installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management of systems.Developing and documenting technical processes and procedures as needed.Providing backup and recovery services; managing file systems and disk space; and managing virus protection on a routine basis.Investigate information, network, and communications needs of users, and make recommendations regarding software and hardware purchases.Coordinating actions with users, IT staff, server administrators, network engineers, and IT management.Recommending and implementing system/process enhancements to improve performance and reliability of the system.Reviewing trouble ticket queues to identify issues that need to be addressed.Working through the ticket queue without intervening management direction (self-motivated).Resolving tickets within established SLAs and raising issues that require management attention or involvement.Establishing and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.Participating in new installations, testing and special projects as needed.Exhibiting good communication skills, an energetic approach, and patience with customers.Lifting equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.Ensure architecture and design alignment with standards & strategic directionCommunicate future vision to stakeholders to help drive cultural changeDocument scope and technical requirementsCreate architecture and simple networking diagramsProvide input in providing solution alternatives for trade studiesReview disaster recovery requirements and implementationReview security access controls for systems and data

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

BS and 5 years of IT experience. An additional 5 years of experience (10 years total) will be considered in lieu of a degree.Familiar with software, especially software interfaces and APIsBroad knowledge of two or more of the following technical domains: system engineering, software engineering, IT infrastructure, network, security, manufacturing, industrial engineeringExcellent written and oral communications skillsMust have experience with technical drawings and requirements definitionCandidates must have ability to provide total system perspective including a technical understanding of relationships, dependencies and requirements of hardware and software components for a projectQualified candidates must possess a demonstrated ability to independently prioritize, plan and execute work tasks in a rapidly changing environmentAbility for rare/occasional travel

Salary Range: $88,600.00 - $133,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
