Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Principal Marine Structural Engineer to join our dynamic Ports & Terminals team. We work with our clients to deliver practical, innovative and effective solutions. Within the Hatch global response network, we work closely with all sectors where Hatch have clients with P&T needs, be it public clients or Mining, Metals or Energy.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated established engineer in the ports, marine, and coastal space with demonstrated hands-on experience in planning, designing and executing a broad range of marine structures and port facilities.
Responsibilities:
Accurately define client requirements Support business development initiatives Lead and contribute to proposals and continue to undertake business development. Collaboratively engage with clients throughout the project lifecycle process Oversee technical teams in the delivery of port and marine studies or design documentation Ensure accurate implementation and adherence to specifications of design solutions delivered to clients, including supervision and sign-off of completed work Take on applicable project or task leadership roles and be responsible for the on-time, on-budget, and on-specification delivery of services and solutions Actively mentor and develop graduates in technical fields of port and marine competences Work within virtual teams in other geographies and business units for seamless delivery to clients in any location Coordinate with multiple disciplines to deliver integrated project solutions Engage with maritime technical networks (i.e. PIANC) and be up to date on best practices Periodic travel to domestic and international locations might be required for periods of time
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structural design from a recognized university. Master’s Degree in the fields of structural and/or marine engineering is an asset. Minimum of 15 years’ experience in detailed design in port and/or marine structures, including development of design basis, detailed structural analysis and design according to best practice codes and standards. Experience with all phases of project developments from high level studies to detailed design and execution. Strong interpersonal and time management skills with a commitment to achieving engineering excellence. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Proficient in structural analysis software: SAP 2000. Aptitude working in multi-disciplinary teams and the ability to interact successfully with all levels of staff, clients and vendors. Registered professional engineer in British Columbia
