Principal Mechanical Design Engineer – Mining Projects

The role
Are you a highly experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to lead critical mining projects? This is a unique opportunity to step into a Principal-level role, working from a convenient Perth CBD office on a variety of sustaining capital projects for major mining operations across Australia.
As the Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you will oversee and drive the design and delivery of mechanical systems for mining operations. Your focus will include mineral processing plants and bulk material handling systems, applying your expertise to diverse and technically challenging projects.
You’ll take ownership of Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for a range of sustaining capital projects, ensuring innovative, cost-effective, and practical solutions are implemented. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you’ll provide technical leadership and play a pivotal role in achieving project success.
Key Responsibilities
What you'll need to succeed
Experience: At least 15 years of mechanical engineering experience in the Australian mining industry, with
significant expertise in mineral processing plants and bulk material handling systems.
Leadership: Proven track record of leading engineering teams and managing complex design projects.
Technical Proficiency: Strong background in FEED engineering, equipment design, and troubleshooting for mining
infrastructure.
Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of sustaining capital projects and the unique requirements of mining
operations.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively
with teams, clients, and contractors.
Problem Solving: Innovative and solutions-driven mindset, with a focus on delivering practical and reliable
outcomes.
