Principal Mechanical Engineer - MachineryKBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.
Responsible for design, specification, selection and services relating to mechanical equipment such as rotating machinery, packaged units, material handling and solids processing systems.Under general supervision, performs all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter.Devises new approaches to problems encountered.Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.
Job Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering fieldCertification as a Licensed Professional Engineer, or willingness to obtainExperience with chemical, petrochemical, refining, and oil and gas projects is preferred, especially LNG liquefaction, ammonia, ethylene, refining and offshore facilities.Additional experience with installation and commissioning is a plusEngineering contractor experience preferredKnowledgeable with analysis of fluid/thermal systemsIn-depth understanding of machine design and applicationFamiliarity with rotor dynamic principals and analysisAbility to provide technical guidance for designers and drafters.Working knowledge of current API standards for rotating equipment, particularly centrifugal pumps, centrifugal compressors, and auxiliary systems.Willingness to travel domestically or internationally a plusDecarbonization – Energy Transition – Sustainability
