Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (AS) sector is currently hiring two Principal Network Communications Specialists or Senior Principal Network Communications Specialists to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This opportunity is based in Melbourne, FL.  

Responsibilities:


Maintains smooth operation of local area, worldwide and virtual private networks (VPN). Plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings. Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions. Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems. May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. May design network or portion of network that include selection of hardware and software packages.

Develops computer systems specifications that address business requirements and that fit with the company's system architecture standards. Establishes and documents system parameters and formats, ensures hardware and software systems compatibility and coordinates and/or modifies system parameters in terms of existing and projected computer capacity and capabilities. Revises existing systems and procedures to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.

Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, troubleshoot and resolve system issues (desktop, server, VM environments). Write white papers when needed or necessary.  Attend meetings and provide advice, direction, and input as a technical SME.  Create as-designed systems documentation, as-built systems documentation (rack elevations, network diagrams, and data flows). Assist in BoM creation and validation.  Deploy networks, servers, and workstations on an as needed basis.

Essential Functions:

Installation of software, support and maintenance on both physical and virtual target devices.

Configuring software, modifying software configuration, and performing basic configuration management IAW with all STIGs, and other cybersecurity requirements to include JSIG.

Planning for and responding to service outages and other problems

Implementing client workstations software patches, security fixes and service releases as required.

Participate in Agile lifecycle.

Executing engineering projects on schedule.

Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and redline documented procedures.

Implement engineering changes to the system as required.

Experience with deploying, configuring, and hardening Network Devices.

Responsible for integrating and testing software and/or hardware systems in complex IT systems.

Work closely with Engineers and Technicians in lab and production environments.

Good planning, coordination, and documentation skills are required.

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Network Communications: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and 9 years of applied experience. Will consider 5 years of experience with a bachelor's degree; or, 3 Years with a master's degree.

Sr Principal Network Communications: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and 12 years of applied experience. Will consider 8 years of experience with a bachelor's degree; or, 6 Years with a master's degree.

Experience configuring, installing, and maintaining end user devices (laptops, desktops, tablets).

Experience configuring, installing, and maintaining Windows servers.

Experience with Active Directory.

Experience with STIG compliance.

Experience with Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Familiarity with server environments, including Windows Server and/or Linux

Understanding of agile processes.

Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.

Working knowledge of routing & switching concepts and protocols.

Familiarity with network simulation tools and load testing (e.g. CML, GNS3)

Current Security+ with CE or equivalent certification under DoD 8570.01-M.

Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.

Preferred Qualifications:

Basic understanding of TCP/IP, subnets, and DHCP protocols.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to perform work with limited supervision.

Effective communication and collaboration abilities.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification.

Experience with Infrastructure as Code.

Experience as Scrum Master.

Experience as an Information Systems Architect.

Experience with security tools such as Splunk, Nessus, Tenable.

Experience with SCCM.

Experience with Azure.

Experience working in a lab environment.

JIRA/Confluence Expert.

Active program access(es).

Experience working with DoD Aircraft Maintenance and Flight test personnel/operations.

Encryption Knowledge.

Experience implementing Cross Domain Solutions.

Experience with Type 1 Network encryption.

Salary Range: $86,600.00 - $130,000.00Salary Range 2: $107,800.00 - $161,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
