Position Overview

As a Principal Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Fiberlight’s complex network infrastructure. You will work closely with other engineering teams to ensure the stability, security, and scalability of our network. Your expertise in routing protocols, network automation, and Layer 2 networking will be crucial in driving our network initiatives forward.

Essential Job Functions

Design, implement, and manage large-scale network infrastructuresConfigure and troubleshoot BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS routing protocolsDevelop and maintain network automation scripts using Python and AnsibleUtilize GitHub for version control and collaboration on network automation projectsProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineersConduct network performance analysis and optimizationEnsure network security and compliance with industry standardsDocument network designs, configurations, and procedures

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

10+ years of experience with large scale networksExtensive experience with BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS routing protocolsProficiency in Python and Ansible for network automationFamiliarity with GitHub for version control and collaborationStrong understanding of Layer 2 networking technologies including MPLS and EVPLExcellent problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldExtensive experience with Cisco, Juniper, and other major manufacturers network equipmentRelevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE) are a plusExperience with network security practices and technologiesKnowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP)Familiarity with SDN (Software-Defined Networking) technologies
