About the Role

 

This is a technical role in Process Safety arena for BHP Maintenance and Engineering Centre of Excellence in Chile, reporting to Manager Asset Management.  
As part of the process safety engineering team, the role works with a BHP-wide network of technical engineers to promote Process Safety Management aspects, to support the implementation of global requirements and support continuous improvement in Process Safety management.

 


Accountabilities:

 

Support the Manager Asset Management by providing guidance to the business on the implementation the process safety management framework with a particular focus on supporting the Minerals Americas assets.  Work as an interface between Chile Operations, HSE, MECoE and PCoE on broader Process Safety Management aspects. Support MECoE engineering Process Safety Management standards, procedures and guidelines. Support their development and periodic reviews. Provide engineering governance of Process Safety Management across BHP via Process Safety Group Risk indicators, business KPIs and relevant  performance dashboards. Support delivery and implementation of effective, assurance processes through Process Safety Standards across the life cycle of BHP process safety applicable facilities.  Ensuring process safety risks are identified, assessed and managed according to the Corporate GLDs and MECOE Systems and Procedures. Report outcomes to the senior leadership with tracking of improvement plan.   Provide oversight on engineering critical controls and implementation of equipment performance standards across operational sites. Work as an integrator in the Process Safety engineering community across the organization. Provide oversight to process safety engineering and technical capability building. Capture and analyse data to support an understanding of the health of critical controls for process safety risks and the health of process safety risks through monitoring KRIs, KPIs and event management data.  Support understanding and implementation of Process Safety concepts as applied to technical domains of operations and engineering. Provide subject matter input to technical investigations of process safety related events. Promote sharing and learning culture to improve process safety understanding.

 

About You

 

 

Engineering graduate (Chemical Mechanical / Instrumentation and Control Engineering) Training and /or post graduate qualifications in Process Safety Management Process Safety Engineering exposure in high risk industries such as Petrochemical / Petroleum / Mining industry. Prefered experience in Mining operations with Process Safety Management/ loss of containment risk management exposure, including auditing and assurance.  Understanding of industry leading Process Safety Management models and its elements. Experience in apply risk management techniques, tools, to support right decisions for any process safety risk exposure.  Ability to review / challenge process safety studies including HAZOPs, PHAs, dispersion models. Experienced in the use of process safety hazard identification and risk assessment software tools. Possess good analytical skills as well as apply judgement based on the analysis of factual and qualitative information in complicated or novel situations. PSM or equivalent Auditing Any associated certification will be a plus Fluency in English and Spanish is essential. We Support a Diverse Workforce
