As a member of the Global Quality team, you will be a guardian of Micron’s brand. You will innovate creative solutions to prevent problems with product performance before they occur and minimize the impact when they do. You’ll also be on the frontlines of meaningful customer issues. In all you do, you’ll demonstrate your technical knowledge and creativity to deliver efficient and effective solutions.

As a Principal Engineer in Product Quality and Reliability Assurance (PQRA) at Micron Technology, Inc., you will support reliability qualification and quality monitoring of High Bandwidth Memory products (HBM), help develop product reliability methodologies, and respond to product deviations as they pertain to quality and reliability. You will establish and implement Quality and Reliability requirements, specifications, and metrics, including Defects per Million (DPM) or equivalent experience, Failure in Time (FIT), and Lifetime. You will work with Engineering teams to develop and implement product reliability methods, assess risks, and assist manufacturing teams with reliability concerns. You will have opportunities to gain new product knowledge on an ongoing basis.

You will:

Conduct New Product Qualifications

Define High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) qualification requirementsComprehend failures and failure rate within the scope of the qualificationPerform risk assessment at all decision points within the qualification cycleReview qualification data and sign off that Qual requirements have been metIssue internal product release notifications for Qual

Develop Product Reliability Methodology, Monitors, Metrics, and Specifications

Collaboratively develop and establish reliability targets and standards with technology development and product engineering teamsComprehend new wafer fab and packaging technologies to identify and mitigate product reliability issuesDevelop and improve product reliability tests to assess new DRAM failure mechanismsCoordinate and drive important specification improvements for existing products

Establish and Implement Quality Requirements

Establish and review ongoing product Quality MetricsAssess deviations for product quality and reliability risksDefine evaluation necessary to mitigate risksReview and support process Excursion AnalysisCommunicate violations to defined release/acceptance criteriaCommunicate issues and corrective actions across all Micron products

Provide Internal Technical Support for Customer Support Teams

Assist RMA Team with detailed analysis of returned materialInvestigate manufacturing history and identify issues related to customer failure signaturePerform additional data collection as needed and per customer requestDevelop Reliability Process Monitor (RPM) plansAssist with necessary corrective actions at the manufacturing levelComprehend field failure rates relative to internal failure rates

Education:

M.S. or equivalent experience in EE or a related field of study

Required Qualifications:

Familiarity with semiconductor wafer fabrication, advanced packaging, and semiconductor device physics.3 years or engineering experience in one of the following areas:Product EngineeringProduct Quality and ReliabilityProcess IntegrationProduct Yield Enhancement

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applicationsFamiliarity with Perl, C++, Python, HTML, CGI, or Java
