Nottinghamshire is taking a test and learn approach to look at how we can best support people accessing substance use services, where there is an additional housing need. CGL is committed to the MEAM approach (Making Every Adult Matter) in supporting those experiencing SMD. This focusses on recognising the impact of trauma, appreciating and utilising those with lived experience, looking at where we as services can be more flexible, and identifying where the systems we work in need to be improved. It is an exciting time to join us, with recommendations for significant increases in psychology employment within substance use services over the next 5 years (The Independent Review on drugs, Dame Carol Black, July 2021).
