As a Principal QA Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving Johnson Matthey’s quality engineering strategy. Reporting to the QA Manager, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the organisation to ensure the delivery of exceptional products and services.  

 

This role demands a holistic view of quality, encompassing product development, processes, and people. You will lead the development and implementation of innovative quality practices, mentor and guide senior QA engineers, and foster a culture of quality excellence. Your expertise will be instrumental in defining and executing test strategies, including non-functional testing, to guarantee product resilience and performance. By working closely with delivery leads, software and cloud engineers, developers, UX designers, and architects, you will contribute significantly to the overall success of the organisation. 

 

Your responsibilities: 

Oversee the delivery of high-quality software products that consistently exceed customer expectations across the software development lifecycle process. 

Identify, evaluate, and implement cutting-edge tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance quality assurance processes and drive continuous improvement. 

Lead the design and execution of comprehensive test automation frameworks, maximising test efficiency and coverage. 

Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate quality risks throughout the software development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective risk management strategies. 

Perform thorough root cause analysis of critical defects, implement corrective actions, and drive preventive measures to enhance product reliability. 

Develop and maintain comprehensive quality assurance documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test reports, to support audit and compliance needs. 

Leverage data analytics to identify quality trends, optimize testing efforts, and inform decision-making. 

Integrate quality assurance practices into DevOps pipelines to enable continuous delivery and deployment. 

Collaborate with leadership to define and execute a long-term quality vision aligned with business objectives and strategic goals. 

Mentor and develop a high-performing QA team, fostering a culture of quality excellence and innovation. 

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure quality effectiveness and drive continuous improvement initiatives. 

Requirements for the role: 

5+ years of Lead/Senior QA or Testing experience in complex environments 

Advanced proficiency in automation tools (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress) 

Expertise in testing methodologies (functional, regression, performance, security) 

Strong CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins, GitLab) 

Proven ability to develop and execute QA strategies aligned with business goals 

Experience in leading large-scale quality assurance projects and initiatives 

Extensive experience testing across platforms (Mobile, Web, SaaS) 

API testing experience (RESTful/JSON, SOAP/XML) with tools (Postman, Swagger, Fiddler) 

Identifying opportunities and taking action to build strategic relationships between one's areas, teams, departments, units, or organizations including customers, to help achieve business goals 

How you will be rewarded: 

Salary range for this position is from 48,500 to 72,500 EUR per year depending on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. This role is also eligible to receive discretionary annual bonus that align with individual and company performance.
