About the business unit  


The Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers management services in all the sectors that Mott MacDonald operate in the Built Environment, Defence, Energy, Water, Transportation and, Education, Health and Care.  

 

The Unit delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of Programme Management, Project Management, Project Controls, Scheduling, Cost Management, Estimating, Infrastructure Finance, Management Consulting, Digital Consulting and Education, Health and Care Management.   

 

Overview of the role

 

As an Associate/Senior Associate Quantity Surveyor you will be supporting the Advisory Division within Water and Environment portfolio.

 

What you will contribute to the team; What you will contribute to the team; Support Water Companies in delivering large capital programmes, providing an essential service, and improving the environment.Provide commercial leadership to a large project or programme of works.Be the single point of contact for all commercial matters related to the programme.Working with the Project Manager to develop and gain budgetary governance.Managing commercial inputs to the procurement process including developing strategy, tender analysis and assessmentDevelop proactive and robust commercial processes to enable effective cost control, including contract administration, risk management, payments and change controlManage and mentor a team of commercial professionals, ensuring all commercial data is produced in a timely and accurate manner to enable informed business decisions to be madeProvide commercial advice to the client, whilst liaising with the client’s legal team as necessaryProactive management of any commercial disputes, escalating as necessaryDevelopment of strong client relationships across its organisation

 

Required for the position of Associate/Senior Associate Quantity Surveyor;

Chartered Surveyor, ideally MRICS, with a degree or equivalent in Quantity SurveyingExperience working with NEC Contracts and other target cost, or cost reimbursable contractsEducated to degree level or equivalent in related subject.Demonstrable experience leading the commercial aspect of heavy infrastructure schemes, gained in either a Consultancy or Main Contracting environment.Ability to prioritise and able to work under pressure.Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues.Excellent presentation and communication skillsAdept at effective communication at SLT and Exec levelUses a systematic approach to critically examine the situation from different perspectives.Gather relevant information from different sources in reaching a decision.Generate and weigh the different options in arriving at decisions.Weigh the risks and consequences of all options.Make well-reasoned, sound and timely decisions based on the needs of the situation, the clients and the team members.Involve and consult those affected by the decision.Maintain and build on existing client relationships to anticipate needs.Customer focus - ability to engage in sound relationships with the customer project team

 

Preferred, but not required;

Knowledge and expertise of the water/wastewater industry sectorAbility to pre-position future opportunities with the clientAble to anticipate resource requirements to ensure suitable resources are availableAble to budget, monitor and manage cost against fee to ensure required margin is achieved or exceeded
