Principal R&D Electrical Engineer
Job Description

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Principal R&D Electrical Engineer for the Hardware Platform Solutions Team in the Cell Analysis Division of Agilent. Join us in revolutionizing cell analysis technology and contribute to groundbreaking advancements in the life sciences industry.

You’ll be part of a team that designs, prototypes, and releases new products to production in Agilent’s Cell Analysis Division. Most projects include a team of electrical, firmware, mechanical, and software engineers, as well as applications engineers and scientists. As part of these projects, you will work with project managers, product managers, manufacturing teams, quality, and service organizations to transform designs into shipping products. Though you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team, you will also be working independently to drive core technology advancement in our growing division. We are looking for a proactive technical leader with excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and contribute to the design and development of the electronic architecture for live-cell analysis instrumentation. This includes real-time electronics, data acquisition, motion control, power distribution, optical systems, low-light luminescence measurements, I/O, and communications interfaces.

Consult management on critical issues and long-range goals.

Lead major projects including requirements definition, prototyping, testing, new product development, etc.

Be the primary resource and escalation point for senior leadership in the area of functional expertise.

Perform verification testing on complete systems to demonstrate instrument performance and transition designs to manufacturing.

Support in-market products by working with manufacturing, product, and support teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering

8+ years of electrical engineering experience with a functional breadth and specialized depth of knowledge in electrical engineering, plus expertise in complementary fields (embedded software, mechanical engineering, system engineering, software engineering).

Demonstrated experience leading and contributing to the development of new projects, programs, and processes.

Excellent documentation, communication, and presentation skills, with attention to detail.

Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in successfully transitioning complex product designs to manufacturing.

Knowledge about regulatory requirements as related to parts definition, supplier details, product testing, and legal aspects.

Ability to write firmware for design bring-up, development, and/or test.

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $145,349.00 - $227,108.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
