EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Revenue Accountant in our Hughes Network Systems division. This role will be responsible for ensuring revenue recognition. This position will be located in our Germantown, MD office.
Responsibilities:
Review executed customer contracts and agreements to ensure appropriate revenue recognition treatment and to identify and communicate revenue recognition issues.Partner with program managers, contract administrators, and finance counterparts to ensure proper revenue and cost recognition for all fully executed agreements.Perform technical review of contracts over certain threshold to ensure revenue is appropriately recognized.Ensure the integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, internal controls.Prepare recurring and period-end journal entries and revenue analysis, including Lessor accounting.Prepare asset and liability balance sheet reconciliations and roll-forward schedules, to include recommending and preparing adjusting journal entries.Review progress billings, unbilled and programs in process (PIP) balances for accuracy and abnormalities.Ensure that contractual backlog is properly computed and reported.Interface with internal and external auditors.Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting5+ years of related accounting experience, including significant exposure to revenue recognition issues – predominantly at large public companies5+ years of working with large, global ERP systems (Oracle or SAP preferred); Hyperion Financial Management and Hyperion Planning2+ years public accountingCPA/CMA (or international equivalent, or in progress).Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in AccountingExperience at the Big FourProven ability to be decisive, resolve issues, and deliver on commitments and deadlinesDemonstrated creativity and flexibility in problem-solving and project collaborationHighly skilled in data analysis and proven ability to present data in a clear, concise and compelling manner to all levels of management Comfortable in discussing issues, strategy and negotiating with Company executivesProven self-starter who doesn’t need much guidance to get projects done in an excellent mannerSuperior writing skillsSuperior Excel modeling skillsWill be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
