The Principal Sales & Operations Data Analyst  will lead the gathering, analysis, reporting and interpretation of all sales analytic data in support of the Optum Life Sciences sales team, the business teams and various corporate executive support teams. In addition to data analysis and reporting, this position requires the provision of both strategic and tactical decision support based on expert analysis and insight. Given the importance of prompt, accurate information, this role will serve on the Life Sciences sales leadership team in an advisory capacity.

Primary Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for the gathering, analysis, reporting and interpretation of all sales analytic data. This role has accountability for tracking sales and pipeline over multiple dimensions (i.e., Client Executive, Sales Team, Business Area, Product, Opportunity type, etc.,) as well as providing a host of regular and ad hoc analytical results including forecasts, win / loss analyses, turn-around-time and key sales metrics. In addition, the position is responsible for supplying all analytical and interpretive data products required by Optum corporate offices. The position is responsible for expert data analysis, interpretation and decision support as well as providing professional level displays of both quantitative and qualitative information.

Specifically, in  this role you will:
•    Gather, analyse, report and interpret sales data in the form of regularly distributed and expertly prepared slide decks, tables, charts and reports.
•    Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting to assist sales and business leaders in developing deeper insight into trends and process efficiencies and develop evidence-based recommendations for improvements based on these analyses.
•    Develop and maintain sales forecasting models and reporting routines based on the analysis of historical sales as well as new sales and marketing initiatives.
•    Oversee the accuracy of Salesforce opportunity level data as it relates to analytical reporting (SF hygiene).
•    Ensure information requests from sales, business and corporate entities are completed, both scheduled and ad hoc. These include both factual reporting as well as the presentation of strategic and tactical plans to be undertaken in support of growth and process excellence.
•    Maintain a repository for historical sales data and act as a conduit for all sales data information requests.
•    Participate actively in regular Growth office meetings, take note of and distribute information back to sales leaders on corporate events, customer engagement opportunities and other corporate initiatives.
•    Act as conduit for corporate information flow, providing Life Sciences planning documents, issue resolution plans, pipeline summaries and other required submissions.
•    Represent Life Sciences in Growth office by providing insight and intelligence regarding opportunities and challenges faced within the market from both a sales perspective as well as a business and market perspective.
•    Act as the Life Sciences sales leader in formulating plans and developing issue response to satisfy corporate growth planning initiatives.

A key part of the role will be to work with all Optum business and support segments to report and analyse sales data in a manner that generates deeper insights and results in actionable initiatives to improve process efficiency and deeper market penetration. To do this, the role requires people with excellent analytical and decision support skills, leadership and people skills, team working skills and ability to work together towards a common goal. 

•    Develop and foster relationships with key individuals and teams that support and consume sales analytical data. 
•    Demonstrate knowledge of Optum’s sales practices and structures (e.g., sales operations, systems, tools, processes, management, common practices and business routines.)
•    Seek opportunities to learn about the overall Optum and UnitedHealth Group businesses (e.g., strategies, products, services, revenue streams, growth plans)
•    Demonstrate knowledge of business financials and the levers that drive profitable growth (e.g., IOI, margin, revenue) as well as key sales metrics used in monitoring sales performance.
•    Identify and recommend ways to improve overall sales performance, based on knowledge of the business (e.g., process improvements, cost reduction opportunities, structural changes)

Required Qualifications:

•    Proven experience working in the pharmaceutical / Life Sciences industry in a decision support role. 
•    Proven quantitative analysis and decision support skills.
•    A proven self-starter with a track record in developing insightful quantitative analytical products. 
•    Experience in strategic planning and process analysis.
•    Ability to both lead and to contribute to the success of a cross functional team.
•    Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to display quantitative information in a manner that generates insight and understanding.

Preferred qualification:

•    Project management experience.
