Stantec’s Science & Technology Practice seeks to find a Principal Leader to join our growing US West team. As a leader you will work independently to assist clients through the planning and creation of cutting-edge design that result in solutions respectful of the construction budget. Your experience ensures you are quite familiar with construction plans, specifications, estimates and building codes and have experience in all phases of planning and design of lab facilities. You will be managing and developing client relationships and working with senior laboratory planners, project architects, and in-house disciplines to lead the development of integrated design proposals, develop and manage integrated work plans, manage project financials, and coordinate with clients, while leading and mentoring others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables. You will be supported by the full breadth and depth of the Global S&T Sector team and will have the opportunity to develop integrated design proposals for world-class projects in partnership with top tier marketing, while leading and mentoring others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables—bringing inspiration to your daily practice. **Your Key Responsibilities** * Be a project leader for the design and delivery of science & tech projects of varying scale and complexity. * Serve as a local leader to inspire your team, represent lab design, and reinforce the global brand of Stantec. * Create a business plan that demonstrates an understanding how to sustain and grow revenue within your region and across the North American market, helping to attract top tier clients and achieve top line growth for the sector. * Collaborate with technical and managerial project leads to achieve key operational performance metrics including traditional financial metrics as well as demonstrating improved outcomes for the projects we deliver. * Lead local and regional business development pursuits including pre-positioning, strategic proposal development inclusive of interior design, lab planning, architecture, and engineering professionals, to achieve business development and financial goals in accordance with Stantec policies. * Serve as a seller-doer generating work, creating long-term relationships, and delivering long-term value to clients. * Develop and maintain industry relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, competitor/teaming partners, and to attract top talent. * Contribute to the thought leadership and brand of Stantec, by sharing knowledge and innovation stories internally, as well as at key client engagements, industry events, and across professional networks. * Mentor and coach our next generation of designers and thought leaders, as well as being receptive of receiving mentoring and coaching from your team and leadership. **Your Capabilities and Credentials** * Be a leader of people, who mentors, grows, influences, and inspires team members. * Strong business development skills, including significant experience developing and maintaining productive relationships with a client base—a seller-doer capable of generating work, creating long-term relationships, and delivering long-term value to clients. * An ability to lead project teams across a range of varying lab types and scales with proven ability to balance a book of business. * Demonstrate a design and planning acumen along with leadership on major lab projects. * Experience with strategic pre-positioning of pursuits inclusive of engagement strategies, responding to Expression of Interests, Statements of Qualifications, Requests for Proposals, formal interviews, and professional fee and contract negotiations. * Knowledge of market assessment techniques and insights along with ability to create aspirational and achievable business plans. * A thought-leader in the industry presenting and attending industry events. * Possess an acumen related to project delivery innovations in IPD (integrated project delivery), APD (alternate project delivery), modular/pre-fab approaches, and related advancements. * An entrepreneurial spirit with strong understanding of business development and embrace the opportunities of a multi-disciplinary/integrated practice. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Excellent organization, coordination, leadership, team building, and team engagement talent. * Possess a valid driver’s license with good driving record. **Education and Experience** * Bachelor or Master degree in Architecture * Licensed and credentialed Architect in the State of California * 15+ years of experience in the architecture and S&T industry Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. We innovate at the intersection of community, creativity, and client relationships to advance communities everywhere, so that together we can redefine what’s possible. **Pay Range:** * Locations in CO, HI, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas - Min Salary $ 128,200.00 - Max Salary $ 192,200.00 **Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
