The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated statistical scientist to join gRED Computational Science, supporting computational efforts across the Research and Early Development organization. Our efforts span the interface of functional genomics, molecular biology, disease model engineering, and advanced computational methodology. This group works closely with our disease area scientists to identify new therapeutic hypotheses and advance transformative medicines.

The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment, teaming with both computational and experimental scientists to lead in the development, evaluation, and use of statistical models applied in facets of genomic data analysis. Such work could include quality control and normalization, estimation of effect sizes and precisions, biologically relevant clustering and dimensionality reduction, pathway and module characterization, and visualization and communication of results to a diverse audience of quantitative and experimental scientists.  External publication of both scientific and methodological innovations is strongly encouraged.

Who you are

You have a Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, or similar, with a strong publication record.  Solid education in theoretical and applied statistics with the demonstrated ability to deploy novel methods to advance biomedical research.

You have the ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple fast-paced projects in molecular biology and genomics.  Experience with assays and data formats used in molecular biology such as various modalities of CRISPR or other perturbation technologies, single-cell transcriptomics, ATAC-Seq, imaging, etc.  

You have extensive experience in the use of a high-level programming language such as R or Python for statistics and computational biology. Familiarity with UNIX and shared high-performance computing environments.

You are an enthusiastic and skilled communicator of statistical concepts to non-statisticians. Collaborative researcher, making co-author level contributions to scientific publications.

Relocation benefits are available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $150,790 to $279,900.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
