The **Principal Scientist/Engineer; R&D Product Development** , is responsible for developing process scale up of raw Materials and products used in Advanced Semiconductor Packaging applications. This will include both new product development and optimization of commercial product lines to capture new Business growth opportunities. **Your Key Responsibilities:** + Work with internal R&D teams, Development Engineering group, Analytical teams, Business quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing/IO teams and external raw material suppliers to develop innovative approaches for developing raw materials, intermediates, products, and process scale up of raw materials and formulations used in Advanced Semiconductor Packaging applications. + Develop processes to effectively scale up new products as developed by the NPD (Research) group. This includes supplying samples to other internal groups and to customers. + Investigate and determine internal or external sourcing or manufacturing options for new products and raw materials with scale-up as needed. Lead the successful transfer of products and processes to manufacturing, supplying all documentation and data needed. + Hands-on work with chemicals in lab or small-scale manufacturing settings is required. Responsibilities will center on the development and manufacture of product formulations but may include synthesis, purification, filtration, ion exchange and analytical characterization to support product and raw material supply and process development. Material scale shall be from 1 liter to 200 liters with an emphasis on flexibility of scale as needed. + Experimental design to identify critical-to-function parameters of new products and raw materials will be expected. Development and documentation of new product specifications, raw material specifications and testing methods in conjunction with the Research, Quality, and Analytical testing groups will be required. + Deliver presentations that distill complex ideas and proactively communicate results and progress to customers, technical teams, management, and business leadership to influence decision making. Seek opportunities for permitted publication of external technical articles and for external speaking. Contribute to company product Technical Bulletins. + Demonstrate behaviors that exemplify DuPont’s Core Values: Safety and Health, Respect for People, Highest Ethical Behaviors, and Protecting the Planet. + Demonstrate a collaborative R&D mindset and ability to work well in and/or lead a cross-functional environment, building strong relationships and driving results. + Work as part of a global R&D organization with sites in North America, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan, with possibility of meetings outside regular office hours. + Develop an understanding of Advanced Semiconductor Packaging Technologies. **Qualifications:** + Required work experience shall have an emphasis on Manufacturing, with previous experience in new product introduction preferred. + Minimum educational requirement is a bachelor’s or a master’s degree, with a PhD considered. A major in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or in other related scientific areas is required. + A minimum of 3 years of experience in the Electronic Materials, Fine Chemical, Biochemical, or pharmaceutical industries is required. + Experience using Phase/Gate or Stage/Gate product development management systems is required. Additional qualifications including SQC Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt certification, Lean Practitioner certification, and MRP II certification are preferred. + Background in polymer chemistry with proven record in formulation, material development, and analytical characterization. + Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to make data driven decisions and actionable recommendations, implement solutions, and track progress. + Strong data analysis and troubleshooting skills including experience using JMP or other statistical tools is required. + Familiarity with a variety of analytical techniques, such as NMR, GPC, GC, DSC, SEM, HPLC, ICP-MS, CVS, Electroplating, etc. + Project management skills and ability to execute complex projects and navigate multiple priorities. + Good oral and written communication skills. + Self-motivated and driven to succeed. + Experience with process chemistry and manufacturing is a plus. + Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of time.
