Principal / Senior Mechanical Engineer

Role Context\:

The Mining, Mineral and Battery Materials business is looking to employ a Principal Mechanical

Engineer (Senior Mechanical Engineer) with sector specific transferable skills to undertake a Concept studies/feasibilities studies role. Mechanical and Package Engineering role supporting small to large scale projects in a multi-discipline environment.

The person may be called upon to PEER review Equipment Packages including all documentation as part of ongoing project delivery, input and guide on vendor design, supply and package management ensuring time, cost and quality.

The ideal candidate will be able to contribute to Layout, Design and Specification of mineral processing, metallurgical and hydrometallurgical processing facilities as well as materials handling facilities for studies and engineering contracts as defined by the vendor packages.

Will ensure safety in design is achieved, together with related engineering legislation e.g. CDM, Machinery Directive, CE Marking, DSEAR, ATEX etc

They will address and resolve functional issues within a project through use of their technical capabilities and engineering judgement, applying own skills to generate innovative solutions as appropriate.

You'll be\:

Ensuring that work complies with all necessary corporate, departmental, and legislative requirements and procedures, to guarantee that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained. Required to specify and technically select equipment for procurement satisfying project requirements. Managing vendors to ensure cost effective, timely delivery Proactively generate value adding options within projects to offer to clients to improve both the chance of winning work and satisfaction with completed and ongoing work Provide support to the engineering discipline manager (Principal Mechanical Engineer) in nonproject based activities such as writing procedures, resource planning, establishing policy, budgeting, recruitment etc, to ensure the continuously improve and optimise the operation of the department Liaising with other disciplines to ensure packaged equipment requirements are captured and to feedback information back into the design process. A willingness to travel to support project and business activities is required. *

You'll have\:

A degree in mechanical or mineral engineering. An advanced or supplementary degree would be an asset. Experience in the design and layout of mineral processing plants from run of mine ore receipt to final product. Full experience of resource hour & deliverable estimation and strategy preparation to support proposal work.

Understanding and knowledge in some or all the following processes is preferred but not essential

Crushing/Screening Stockpiling Material Handling Product storage Handling Comminution Battery Materials

Preferable experience – not essential

Minerals Processing Battery Materials Processing (pCAM, CAM, AAM & recycle)

Relevant engineering experience with typically 8/15 years (5 to 10 years) of experience in a project based multidisciplined environment is essential. Experience in the design of mineral processing, materials handling or hydrometallurgical ore processing facilities is preferred but not essential.  This could include time in an engineering organisation or in an operations environment. Relevant site-based experience advantageous. The ability to deliver project scope of work safely to programme, within budget and to required quality. A strong demonstrable leadership capability developing technical skills and commercial awareness are preferred Ability to work to procedures, standards and project systems as required. Good analytical, interpersonal and communication skills essential. A working knowledge of AutoCAD, 2D and 3D Modelling. A working knowledge of E3D would be advantageous. Good knowledge of MS Office software is essential
