The Software Architecture function is responsible for integrating software frameworks, systems, and/or product design functions or designing the underlying architecture for use in one or more product offerings. They design comprehensive frameworks, systems, or products while also determining core server infrastructure, capacity planning, and networking protocols. Additionally, they integrate software, hardware, and networking components to fit the system being designed.
Your Impact:
An Architect role at OpenText is more than just a job; you will be responsible for working with multiple engineering teams, defining and governing their technical roadmap, architectural foundation, and adoption of contemporary cloud practices. Using your skills in technology and architecture, you will help assess the current state, advise on solutions to business needs or operational problems, and act as an advocate for functional areas of OpenText. You will collaborate across teams yet be collocated and support our team in Canada specifically. You will engage in solving meaningful challenges within a motivated team, gaining exposure to advanced technologies beyond individual access. You will be encouraged to cultivate an engineering mindset, driving the creation of innovative software solutions that address real-world problems and shape the future. Your role will be as hands-on with the development team as possible as you will be part of the engineering organization and not a separate or high-level architecture group (with which you will also collaborate of course).

As a Principal Software Architect, you will:
Understand, analyze, and design full-stack applications, including AI and ML solutions.Possess hands-on experience with CI/CD processes, cloud-native app methodologies, and multi-tenant applications.Convert technical problems into action plans with defined roles, responsibilities, and outcomes.Organize and formalize architecture, best practices, and standards; mentor colleagues.Possess experience and keen interest in AI/ML solution development, leading Generative AI initiatives.Build applications with high scalability and availability.Possess 10+ years of previous professional experience in a role relevant to software architecture
What you need to Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with experience in enterprise product development.Agile/Scrum development experience.Strong OOD and C++/C# or Java programming skills.Knowledge of algorithm design, data structures, and design patterns.RDBMS experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, or DB2.Familiarity with Windows/Linux development stack; JavaScript, React, and electron.js are pluses.Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architecture. Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
