Get to know the Team

The Fulfillment tech family is one of the pillars enabling Grab to out-serve our customers and partners in different businesses and marketplaces across Southeast Asia. We are working on high throughput, real-time distributed systems that use sophisticated machine learning techniques to solve hundreds of millions of requests per day. Our mission is to offer the best-in-class products and experiences to our driver partners as to increase adoption and engagement of our services. Improve driver partner opportunities and efficiency in order to fulfill customer orders without fail, rain or shine. And to create efficient marketplaces by determining an optimal price that is both sustainable and loved by our partners and customers.

 

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

Design and write state-of-the-art backend or frontend code to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Grab's range of services or mobile applications. Actively participate in both code and design review.Contribute to the development of technical strategies and roadmaps for the Fulfilment domain, aligning with broader organisational goals.Oversee end-to-end development of your team's products, including ownership of the team's infrastructure using Terraform, building and scaling backend services, designing efficient backend service interactions, and performing root cause analysis investigations.Engage in Driver app stability investigation, application performance analysis, tuning, and optimisation. Be part of on-call rotation for your team's products and services, and participate in post-mortems for any incidents.Work in a regional organisation with offices across different countries and cultures, facilitating collaboration across these diverse teams. Collaborate with product managers, data analysts, and product designers to implement products and features, and test their impact on business metrics.Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement within the team.Evaluate and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and tools that can enhance the team's productivity and the overall quality of Grab's services. Drive innovation by researching and prototyping new technologies and approaches to solve complex fulfilment challenges.Contribute to the broader tech community through knowledge sharing, writing technical blog posts, and participating in relevant conferences or meetups.

 

Qualifications

 What Essential Skills You Will Need

Fluent in English, with a conscientious, and teamwork, and a positive and optimistic outlook.Strong computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms and multithreading, relational and non-relational databasesProficient with at least one language commonly used language for backend or frontend development.Demonstrates a solid understanding of cloud infrastructure with hands-on experience being a plus.A degree in computer science, software engineering or related fields with 8+ years of working experience on mobile application developmentExperience with high-speed distributed computing frameworks like Apache Flink is a plus. Experience with Kubernetes, Dockers is a plus. Experience in writing real-time input signals for a Machine learning Model is a big plus.
