Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a critical part of the Missile Defense System. It is a key operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control designated networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives.
C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that offers an optimized response to threats throughout all ranges and flight phases. C2BMC functions as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to improve performance. Additionally, C2BMC plays a vital role in all system ground and flight tests, which verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of the missile defense system.
The X-Lab is responsible for developing and integrating future-capability prototypes for the Missile Defense System, including Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development, and other advanced missile technologies. This position will focus on integrating the R&D systems into C2BMC and will support other ongoing X-Lab projects as needed. This includes evaluating how C2BMC prototype systems perform, integrating source tracks into the prototype, and analyzing the results of track processing. Additionally, it involves generating and assessing concurrent radar and sensor tracks during M&S and live flight test events, as well as improving experimental prototypes based on the outcomes of these activities. The Software Engineer will use these results to identify and enhance C2BMC for future operations.
