Principal Software Engineer

Location: Sterling, VA

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to lead the design and development of our system. In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience in software engineering and system architecture to create a robust, scalable, and user-friendly solution that meets the Asurion standard.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Design Initiatives: Drive the architecture and design of the system, ensuring it aligns with business goals and technical requirements.Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and business leaders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.Develop High-Quality Code: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, while promoting best practices in software development and code quality.Conduct Code Reviews: Mentor team members through code reviews, providing constructive feedback to elevate overall engineering standards.System Integration: Design and implement integrations with other systems (inventory, payment processing, CRM, etc.) to ensure seamless operations across the ecosystem.Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring the system is responsive and scalable to handle peak usage.Stay Current with Technologies: Research and evaluate new technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance the system and stay competitive.Lead Technical Initiatives: Drive technical projects from conception to implementation, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.Ensure Compliance: Implement security and compliance measures to protect sensitive customer and transaction data.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.Experience: 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong focus on POS systems or similar applications.Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, ReactDatabase Management: Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases; experience with database design and optimization.Architecture Expertise: Familiarity with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure).Leadership Abilities: Proven track record of leading technical teams and projects; strong mentoring and coaching skills.Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities; capable of navigating complex technical challenges.Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
