Principal Software Engineer

As a Principal Software Engineer you will be working to develop and deliver web and mobile banking applications in a Digital first transformative team. You will use your technical expertise, inquisitive mind and thirst for innovation to deliver solutions and enhance the experience for customers of Citizens Consumer Bank. Your varied experience and knowledge of cloud native and hybrid applications, modern architectural patterns, programming languages and frameworks will enable you to lead the delivery of cutting edge solutions with speed and quality.
3 Days Hybrid from one of the following locations: Johnston, RI, Phoenix, AZ, Iselin, NJ or Westwood, MA offices.
The Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for:
Working as a Full Stack Developer to design and develop applications ensuring both the success of the product and adherence to enterprise architecture principles.Participating in an environment using Agile methodology, adhering to best practices and collaborating effectively with team mates.Designing, modifying, developing and implementing modern, architecturally sound components, tools and applications to meet mission-driven strategic business goals.Infusing quality of service characteristics, such as scalability, manageability and maintainability, into distributed service-based framework to create or expand business or technical capabilities. Employing industry best practices to evaluate, correct and prevent vulnerabilities during the software development process. Serving as a peer-leader, encouraging a culture of innovation and accountability while adhering to Agile best practices.RequiredQualifications
7+ years of hands-on software development, with proven experience in developing and supporting commercial software productsDemonstrated ability to lead and mentor software engineersExperience with NodeJS and popular Node frameworksHands on experience with Java, Spring, SpringBootWorking knowledge of front end frameworks such as Angular, React or similar.Good understanding of security protocols such as OAuth SAML and experience Implementing technology security policies, processes and procedures to proactively protect, monitor, investigate and resolve threats to a secure user environment and company assets.Experience delivering and supporting containerized solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShiftAWS/AZURE/GCP experience, including managing sensitive assetsStrong working knowledge of SDLC, Site Reliability Engineering processes, CI/CD tooling like Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, Nexus etc.Must have working knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle or similar and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB or similarUnderstand data structure concepts such as linked lists, dictionaries, arrays, custom object creation etcHands on experience working with code quality and code coverage toolsBash and Linux experienceStrong communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skillsDesired Qualifications
Experience with streaming frameworks/platforms like Kafka, Kinesis, SQS or Storm3+ years of experience in the financial services industry, developing solutions for consumer banking, portfolio management, trading, compliance or wealth managementUnderstanding of banking system and custodial and consumer banking operationsExperience with Domain Driven Design and CQRSEducation and Certifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related discipline Preferred: Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or DeveloperPay Transparency
The salary range for this position is $127,000 - $ 165,000 per year plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
