The **Cloud Ecosystem Security** team is one of Microsoft's fastest growing businesses, with the mission to make the world safer and more productive for all. The team protects Azure, Microsoft's cloud platform, builds security product offerings for customers across clouds, and contributes to the global ecosystem of defenders, researchers and security policy makers. As the **Principal Software Engineer,** you will lead our efforts to build product features and capabilities for a new security marketplace offering. This exciting new product offering will help partners build on new security platform capabilities such as Security Copilot, extend capabilities of Microsoft’s existing security products (Defender, Sentinel and Purview across M365 and Azure), and offer organizations of all sizes a purpose-built, trustworthy one-stop marketplace that meets their security software needs. This is a key technical leadership role, and you would have a blend of technical skills and the ability to work across teams to build consensus. You would be comfortable being hands on with coding while having the necessary skills to communicate complex concepts in technical forums. **Responsibilities** + Lead the architectural design for a new marketplace offering, working with partner teams and marketplaces to ensure a streamlined customer experience Architect durable services across multiple releases + Optimized to meet all the expectations of highly scalable, available, and reliable cloud services + Work closely with Program Managers and other Security Engineering disciplines to deliver core features in the Microsoft security portal, as well as back end functionality that leads to them + Lead code quality across the team and provide thought leadership in bringing innovation to our products and engineering practices + Develop architecture models to measure performance and guide implementation. **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications** : + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python + OR equivalent experience. + 6+ years of industry experience designing cloud services that are highly scalable and distributed + 6+ years of industry experience in development principles and patterns **Other Requirements:** Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year.
