Position Description:
Develops original and creative technical solutions to ongoing development efforts in Java and NodeJS/Typescript and deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS) or EKS landscapes. Ensures consistent delivery of functional software according to Agile methodologies – sprint-to-sprint and release-to-release. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participates in architecture design teams.
Defines and implements application level architecture.
Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
Advises senior management on technical strategy.
Mentors junior team members.
Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) architecting and developing systems Java, NodeJS, or IBM WebSphere Commerce in a financial services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) architecting and developing systems using Java, NodeJS, or IBM WebSphere Commerce in a financial services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and building highly responsive, scalable, and progressive modern Web (REST) applications and APIs according to the Test Driven Development framework, using Maven, HTML5, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Angular; and setting up application monitoring and logging using Datadog.
DE designing and developing REST APIs using NodeJS and SpringBoot frameworks; building UI experience and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) by retrieving data from DB2, MongoDB, or DynamoDB; and testing and validating applications using Postman, JMeter, or ReadyAPI.
DE participating in the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) according to Agile methodologies; developing test automations and executing innovative automated solutions from release-to-release and sprint-to-sprint, according to financial services standards using JEST, Cypress, Junit, or Selenium.
DE performing in DevOps engineering — building Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to deploy applications to Cloud and Kubernetes using GitHub, BitBucket, or Jenkins; and upgrading API versions for Ingresses in EKS applications.
