Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer with hands on Integration and Testing experience for a fast-paced, growing, dynamic position supporting distributed simulation and training programs in Orlando, Florida.  NGDS is an industry leader in developing, integrating, and sustaining complex simulator systems for the US Department of Defense. Our engineering teams perform a variety of tasks leading to the successful integration, test, deployment, and sustainment of complex modeling & simulation (M&S) systems, enabling a worldwide distributed mission training capability.

Systems Engineer primary responsibilities are:

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systemsAnalysis performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, test, installation, and operationEnsures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraintsPerforms functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specificationsPerforms integration and testing activities with contractor provided equipment and systems with various government provided systemsGenerates test plans, test reports, system and software problem reports, and tracks issues through resolution

In addition, the candidate must be a team player, able to work comfortably and effectively with company team members as well as program stakeholders and DoD contractor personnel using strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills. Also, the candidate may be required to travel in support of customer interface, technical interchange meetings, on-site technical support, and event/exercise support.

This Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer position is in support of the Integration and Testing program for the United States Air Force (USAF).  The candidate will be responsible for the integration and acceptance of USAF weapon system simulators and sites with the goal being to provide high quality, realistic distributed simulation training to crewmembers from the USAF and other military services.  Familiarity with simulation protocols, designing, developing, integrating, or analysis of virtual, constructive and/or distributed simulation systems, or the operational use of these simulation systems is a significant secondary experience basis for a successful candidate.  Testing experience (I&T, VV&A, OT&E, or system analysis and troubleshooting of technical systems) is also a desired experience basis.  The candidate will be working in an extremely dynamic and challenging environment on a day-to-day basis supporting or leading the acceptance of new systems and sites, conducting ‘real time’ troubleshooting of interoperability issues events and aiding the resolution of documented interoperability issues.  This position requires the candidate to be willing to support I&T activities on an occasional ‘non-normal’ workday basis or for more than a normal 8-hour workday.

Basic Qualifications:

Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other STEM related degree with 5 + years of experience; 3 years with a master's or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree.Level 4: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other STEM related degree with 9 + years of experience; 7 years with a Master's; 4 years with a PhD; or 13 years of experience in lieu of a degree.US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearanceLVC/DMO domain experienceExperience with or familiarity with DMO standardsWillingness and ability to occasionally support integration testing efforts, meetings or other activities outside of a normal 9 AM - 5 PM (8-hour workday) work schedule including both very early AM and very late PM integration testing activities. Experience developing, creating, and using network and analysis tools for troubleshooting and analyzing complex problemsAbility to compose high quality work materials such as test procedures, briefing slides, detailed reports, work-related manuals, or publicationsAbility to comprehend, analyze and propose solutions to complex interoperability problemsAbility to coordinate, lead & document integration or testing related working groupsAbility to travel, including internationally, up to 25% of the time

Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00Salary Range 2: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
