Principal Strategic Advisor, Clinical Innovation

**Job Description**
The Principal Strategic Advisor: Clinical Innovation role provides a unique opportunity to innovate and improve health care delivery across Blue Cross NC and its subsidiaries. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and driving new clinical programs and projects across Blue Cross NC’s health plan, care delivery, and third-party administrator (TPA) businesses to improve healthcare delivery, quality outcomes, and affordability for our members, patients and the community.
To succeed in this role, you will leverage your healthcare experience, knowledge of market best practices and leading industry thinking to bring the best of Blue Cross NC’s capabilities to our members, providers, and communities. This work will align with Blue Cross NC’s mission to make healthcare better for all North Carolinians.
On site expectations at our Durham Campus: 1-2 times a month
**What You'll Do**
+ Leverage in-depth understanding of Blue Cross NC’s health plan, care delivery, and TPA capabilities and operations to develop a holistic strategy and approach for leveraging the combined potential of these organizations to improve healthcare quality, outcomes, and affordability
+ Partner with cross-functional / cross-business unit teams to identify and design new initiatives and programs in alignment with the clinical innovation strategy, including quantifying the impact on member and provider outcomes and experience
+ Partner with Blue Cross NC subsidiaries to monitor and measure impact of clinical innovation models, programs, and initiatives on an ongoing basis. This includes reporting on progress and outcomes to executive leadership and refining program approaches as needed based on results
+ Develop and execute clinical innovation strategies to transform care model and clinical processes across the Blue Cross NC ecosystem. Collaborate with legal, compliance, and risk management teams to mitigate risks associated with new programs or initiatives
+ Stay up to date on industry thought leadership related to clinical innovation and collaboration across the healthcare ecosystem
**What You’ll Bring**
+ Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)
+ 8+ years of experience in related field.
+ In lieu of degree, 10+ years of experience in related field.
**Bonus Points**
+ 10+ years of healthcare experience in a Payer, Health System or large Clinical Practice, ideally with deep knowledge of the healthcare landscape in North Carolina
+ 7+ years of management experience with a proven track record designing and implementing large scale clinical programs and projects
+ Clinical background may be helpful (i.e. MD, DO, PharmD, RN/MSN, LCSW) with at least 5 years of active clinical experience.
+ Deep understanding of health insurance and provider business model economics, capabilities, and operations
+ Proven ability to lead, drive and communicate novel, innovative clinical program implementations effectively to cross functional partners and leadership, and working through challenges with appropriate stakeholders
+ Ability to lead by influence in a matrixed organization.
+ Demonstrated ability to directly inform program design and support novel and innovative clinical programs
+ Solid strategic, analytic and critical thinking skills with proven ability in designing, implementing and ongoing evaluation of program outcomes
+ Resourceful, highly organized self-starter who can be flexible and navigate uncertainty

**Salary Range**
At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed. Compensation decisions are driven by factors including experience and training, specialized skill sets, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. Our base salary is part of a robust Total Rewards package that includes an Annual Incentive Bonus*, 401(k) with employer match, Paid Time Off (PTO), and competitive health benefits and wellness programs.

$105,600.00 - $191,800.00
