Principal Structural Engineer

Our client based in the London area is looking for a Principal Structural Engineer on a long-term contract outside of IR35. As the Principal Structural Engineer, you will be: Experienced in structural design of renewables offshore projects Experienced in structural design of hydrocarbon offshore structures Minimum ten years’ experience Demonstrable track record of technical delivery on conceptual, Front-End Engineering (FEED) and detailed design of offshore projects Detailed technical knowledge of steel structural design for jackets and topsides for offshore structures Excellent understanding of offshore wind farm design drivers, risks and legislation Familiar with key aspects of offshore substation design from concept to detailed design Knowledge of relevant offshore codes, standards and best practice for offshore design in hydrocarbons and renewables sector Finite Element analysis experience for offshore structures Competent with software such as SACS, SESAM, USFOS, ANSYS, ABAQUS, Mathcad Scripting capability is an advantage Excellent change control and management skills Excellent communication skills Excellent quality control culture, behaviours and awareness Forecasting and planning skills and experience Good understanding of project cost and schedule controls Self starter but works well within a multi discipline team Articulate with excellent report writing skills Ability to form and manage discipline teams, plan delivery and manage or author project bids Scope of Responsibilities: Lead a structural engineering team to deliver design scopes Complete design of offshore structures (substructures and topsides) for both renewable and hydrocarbon platforms to meet industry codes and certification requirements Undertake and/or oversee development of automated processes for design of offshore structures (spreadsheets and scripts) Liaise with and work closely with all other project disciplines, typically as the discipline lead Ensure technical quality of engineering Control progress and identify scope changes Identify interfaces internally and externally and initiate controls Review structural analysis, calculations and reports to a high quality Qualifications:
Civil/Mechanical Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, Chartered
