Principal Supplier Performance Engineer

Principal Supplier Performance Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing relationships with suppliers to ensure the delivery of high-quality process plants and contribute to solutions to the highly complex aspects of a project or process. This role involves working closely with suppliers to establish and maintain strong relationships, monitor performance, ensure delivery certainty and identify areas for improvement.

 

Your Day to Day:

Supplier Management: Acting as a leader for providing regular progress report to the Business Unit Stakeholders (Project Manager, etc..) with an effective communication Communicating clearly with internal customers and suppliers to understand their needs and help the suppliers understand their problems, explain methodology, and proactively identify improvements the supplier has not requested. Driving the procurement activities and leading with other individual contributor supporting the procurement scope Evaluating procurement risk, soliciting stakeholder input, and leveraging tools and resources to develop and manage Oversight Plans and estimates: Defining Witness and Hold points during the manufacturing, to ensure compliance to the cascaded Quality and Technical requirements to suppliers (e.g., NQA-1, ISO, Design Specifications, Approved Processes, etc) Executing or delegating oversight of key supplier operations and activities, documenting results and taking appropriate actions. Supporting the project management team to interface with Supplier Quality Organization for performing Quality surveillance Coordinating supplier documentation reviews, by appropriate Westinghouse functions, including Lifetime Quality Records (LTQR), Concession Requests and Non Conformance Requests Driving the supplier performance, including supplier performance scorecard/dashboard. Ensures maximum value is received for the Purchase Order that WEC places to its suppliers, including full compliance to the quality and technical specifications. Responsible for developing Performance Improvement Plans for poor or negative trends in performance and managing those plans to completion. This includes owning the Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) process: performing cause analyses and verifying completion of preventative and corrective actions Leading and escalating significant “quality events”, coordinating activities, issuing timely communications, identifying stakeholders, etc. to ensure prompt identification of impacted products, disposition, & corrective action. This requires engaging his extensive technical experience and capabilities for providing Manufacturing technical expertise to the supplier when needed Supporting Project Manager, Commercial and Legal providing Quality and technical inputs for defensive and offensive claims, as required Having very sound knowledge and understanding of the products in the portfolio, industrial application, and importance to our business Apart of Supplier management, SPE activities are also made of Supplier Evaluation and Development: Conducting supplier assessments: evaluating capabilities and capacities in terms of processes and systems; ensuring that supplier manufacturing facility has required machines, spare parts, material, supplies to operate the job according to Westinghouse’s quality and standards requirements. Leading supplier development and qualification activities for new products and cost reduction efforts with a subject matter expert approach. This includes identification of manufacturing challenges and risks, development of mitigating actions, taking into account project schedules, document review process, manufacturing capability analyses, measurement and controls (NDE) system analyses, etc. As an experienced and skilled person, Mentoring, guiding, and training less experienced engineers and providing leadership by example to ensure policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by less experienced engineers.

 

Who You Are:

Bachelor Degree or higher in Mechanical/Material Engineering Fluent English Personal, industrial, and nuclear safety as a key area of concern 10+ years of related experience, including 5 to 10 years in engineering or manufacturing of heavy mechanical components (casted components appreciated), or management of manufacturing project Experience performing process capability analysis, process improvement and qualification, PFMEA Comfortable with Manufacturing/Quality Plans Management, LTQR, etc… Experience with nuclear products and European standards desired Be familiar with risk management Located at Preston, this job will start with a permanent (100%) position at one of our main supplier facilities, in Stoke-on Trent Experience evolving in multiple cross functional projects, in an international environment highly appreciated! Willing to travel to the supplier Workshop based in United Kingdom. The expectation is up to 25% of your time on business trip to allow to be on the workshops
