GM3 is an emerging Australian metallurgical coal mining entity owned by global investment entity Golden Energy and Resources (GEAR) and M Resources, a market leader in metallurgical coal industry services.

 

Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) produces premium quality, hard coking coal for steelmaking, which is transported within Australia and around the world. We operate two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

 

This role is a Permanent position based at the GM3 office in Brisbane CBD.

 

As the Principal Technical Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and strengthening internal financial controls. You will play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategies, supporting business decision-making, and driving continuous improvements across our finance function.

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

 

Ensure accurate and timely financial accounting, reporting, and compliance with regulatory and climate reporting requirements. Manage monthly consolidation and reporting to stakeholders. Manage internal financial processes, including monthly and year-end reporting. Provide technical accounting support for financial projects and lead process improvements. Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors for smooth audits and filings. Oversee statutory financial statements and year-end consolidations.

 

 

ABOUT YOU 

 

Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification. Significant experience in professional services, ideally in mining or a related industry. Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise. Excellent communication skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset. High integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
