Principal Technician Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description:

The Principal Technician are competent at setting up and understanding process systems and/or equipment. They ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality and continuous improvement. Able to support Engineers in the assembly, modification, startup, troubleshooting and operation of new food process systems. Able to troubleshoot various competencies:  basic hydraulic, automation, machining, and mechanical systems on food process and packaging equipment with minimal guidance. Partner with site process technicians to properly maintain and repair equipment in a R&D pilot plant while prioritizing multiple mechanical and administrative tasks. Can easily run and operate all processing equipment.

Major Responsibilities:

Support the design, construction, troubleshooting and operation of pilot scale food process systemsCapable of troubleshooting, repairing and overhauling equipment within close tolerances and mechanical problem-solving on process & packaging equipment.Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM's) on Process & Packaging Equipment with minimal guidance.Support Operations in equipment start up, changeover and training of new staff.Utilize digital tools to document work orders and any other supporting documentation that is required for the function.Effectively communicate with Technicians, Engineers, Product Developers, Project Managers and all levels of management.Understand and adhere to Mars Global Safety and Quality standardsAble to assess equipment operating reliability and perform routine repairs, adjustments and malfunction troubleshooting.Laise with external contractors and equipment vendors on an as-needed basisUnderstands principles of inventory control and manages the ordering of needed parts and equipment.Understands trial schedules, computer systems, work instructionsCollaborate with a cross-functional team of associates (Technicians, Product Developers, Engineers)Support pilot plant trials and other duties as assigned by Manager

Education & Professional Qualifications:

High school degree mandatory; Education from a Vocational school preferred Minimum 2 years in a maintenance/technical role preferred

Knowledge / Experience:

Minimum:

Possess a fundamental understanding Mechanical Drawings to solve problems in a timely manner at the component level on all assigned equipment.Familiarity with tools needed for the repair equipment and process/packaging systemsBasic use of Microsoft Tools (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Powerpoint, Word)

Preferred

Experience in assembling mechanical and process equipmentUnderstanding of pumps, heat exchangers, sanitary process piping, heating/cooling equipment.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits.  Eligibility for these additional elements depend on the position offered and the employee’s work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule, store associate).  Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
