Arup is seeking a dynamic Transportation Planning Leader in our New York City office. Arup’s established planning team requires a leader who can take our practice to the next level by leveraging our deep technical expertise to solve our clients’ most challenging issues. Arup works with governments and private sector clients leading or supporting complex projects that improve resident’s lives; leveraging major infrastructure spending to transform and regenerate places; meeting decarbonization goals; improving equity and inclusion to enable citizens and communities to thrive; and bolstering climate resilience, to ensure a sustainable future for all. The successful applicant will have strong relationships and a demonstrated record of work-winning with major transportation agencies in the tri-state area.
**The opportunity**
• Develop and grow relationships with our major local clients (NYCDOT and MTA).
• Bid and win transportation planning work.
• Deliver high-quality work as a project manager/project director.
• Drive technical excellence, creativity, and innovation that helps differentiate Arup’s planning offering from the market.
• Lead, mentor, and grow our teams to deliver high-performance transportation planning and advisory work.
• Represent Arup in the transportation industry at conferences and technical forums, local and regional events.
• Collaborate with other Arup leaders in the Americas Region and globally to deliver on the firm’s mission.
**The skills**
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, urban planning, or similar field of study
• 20 or more years of experience leading large scale transportation planning work as a project manager or project director
• Professional License (PE, RA, AICP) or ability to obtain a license within 6 months of joining the firm
• Experience working with major public clients like MTA, NYCDOT, or the Port Authority.
• Experience building client relationships and winning work in Transportation Planning.
• Experience leading and mentoring a multidisciplinary team.
• Financial and commercial acumen to produce profitable project outcomes

**Hiring Range -** The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in New York is $260,000 to 330,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note, hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of New York will differ.
