ABOUT OUR PERTH OFFICE

 

South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, External Affairs, Sustainability Strategy, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk, Legal and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

 

This is a full-time, permanent position at our head office in Perth.

 

Join us as Principal Water Management, where you'll use your expertise to help our mines manage water-related risks and exploit opportunities to reduce our impacts and dependencies effectively. We need someone who understands the practical side of integrated water management in mining to guide our teams across different sites. You'll work directly with site teams to solve real-world challenges, whether it's improving how we use water in our current operations or planning water management for new projects. If you enjoy applying your technical knowledge to hands-on mining challenges and working with people who keep our sites running smoothly, your knowledge will help ensure our sites operate responsibly and efficiently.

 

Reporting to the Group Manager Environment, key responsibilities include: 

 

Work with our sites on water management solutions and initiatives, helping teams handle day-to-day water challenges and plan for the future You'll use your technical knowledge to suggest practical improvements and help solve water-related challenges across our operations. Support our environmental practices by providing input on minimum performance requirements for water management including development and implementation of practical tools for our sites. You'll help ensure our mining operations follow environmental requirements and use effective water management techniques. Connect with industry peers and working groups to stay current with water management practices. You'll share knowledge about what works well and bring useful ideas back to help improve how we manage water at our sites. Be part of a friendly team where you can contribute your technical knowledge to site planning and projects. You'll join regular team discussions to share ideas and learn from others, while working in a supportive environment that welcomes different viewpoints.

 

ABOUT YOU 

 

You will ideally have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

Put your water management experience to work helping our mining sites solve everyday challenges. You'll use your technical background and understanding of water systems to support and enable our teams. Apply your site experience to help us work more effectively and safely. You'll identify ways to reduce water-related risks and suggest improvements based on what you've seen work in mining operations. Explain technical information clearly through your writing and conversations. You'll help teams understand water management concepts and work with them to put solutions into practice. Work well with others, whether they're in the office or at different sites. You enjoy breaking down complex ideas into simple terms and working with people across all areas of mining. Plan your work efficiently and adjust smoothly when priorities shift. You're comfortable managing your tasks independently while maintaining attention to detail. Talk with people outside our company, including local communities and other technical professionals. You'll help maintain good relationships and stay current with developments in water management.

 

Qualifications for this position are: 

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Hydrology, Engineering or similar
